Has any GM let as many FAs walk as Demps? We never seem to trade people before their contracts run out and we get nothing for them. Since we traded Paul, we have lost tons of guys. Just off the top of my head.. West, Belli, Kaman, Anderson, Gordon, Smith, R. Lewis, Aminu.. I'm not sure about Jack or Bayless. I know they all didn't have tons of value, but even future 2nds, cash or swaps would have been nice..

I'm not dumping on Demps. I'm just wondering if there is something working against him making moves. If guys are walking anyway, grab something for them. Even take Holiday and Evans, why haven't they been extended or traded? Why risk FA?

He frustrated me with his stance on Ryan Anderson. Everyone knew there was no way he would re-sign with the Pelicans, but Demps refused to move him. It was said that we had 2 offers of 2018 1st round picks for him. Also, it was in the media that we could have had Rudy Gay for him but we refused to part with Anderson.

I think it shows demps doesn't want to settle on guys he wants. He rather have the cap than to just pick up a player he doesn't believe is a good fit.

How is a 2018 first round pick a bad fit?

So a 1st round pick is a bad fit? I would think Gay at $13 million has some value.

Didn't see the second part but I assume it came with us taking on a long term contract

No one know for sure, but that was not reported.

Brett Dawson posted a Podcast today outlining what we do and don't know about Tyreke. LINK

quote:

There's some sense that it will take a little time before he's ready to play...My guess is they aren't expecting him to play a big role this season because I don't think they do expect him to be healthy. That doesn't mean he won't be healthy at some point.

So mirroring a lot of what MM has told us, he's going to be out a while. From the potential trade rumors he talks about:

quote:

There are some teams that think this is a career threatening situation for him.

As for the specific trade rumors, he said there were many teams with interest but the only one he felt comfortable telling us about was Tyreke for Monroe. He says it's not totally dead because they really want to dump Monroe, but between Tyreke's injury and us needing to add other players to make salaries work, it wasn't going to happen.

If the new additions play well that would make Cunningham expendable and he's enough to make Tyreke for Monroe work. Whether we want to try Monroe for part of a season is another question entirely. Although the way Dawson talked about it and the way the Pels have been linked to Monroe trade rumors multiple times I have to assume Demps would be interested.

If that were true, adding Ajinca would be the easy fix. He would not have much of a role with Monroe here.

Maybe Demps doesn't want to give up Ajinca on a reasonable deal if it's just a Monroe rental. I know I wouldn't assume the player that took down the #2 defense was a long term fit. I'm not sure what Dawson's source on that one was but it was one he had enough info about that he felt comfortable sharing it.

not so bad a scenario that reke is out for a while
they clearly want to play differently than he does/can do and while it would be nice to be able to sign another player now, they'd just as soon digest what they have now

honestly I'd rather him expire than take on Monroe

Monroe just goes so much against everything we have been building this offseason.

Really don't understand Demp's logic on being so serious with that trade?

No one wanted to give value based on 100% healthy Evans because he isnt healed up yet. Upside is worth the wait.

Serious question, who is going to score the ball for the Pels this year? AD will. Maybe Jrue if he is healthy.

I love the off season moves, and the overall direction, but we could have big probems on the offensive side.
