When I saw we got Solomon Hill I actually thought that it was a good move. I watched him a lot last year especially in the playoffs because I am a Paul George fan. I would always think "man that kid is always around the ball." He is a good role player. Paired well with PG13, who's game I think Buddy Hields will be in 3 years. And in the playoffs Hill had several games with double digit points and close to the same with rebounds. We need a better bench. Seriously, go watch this years playoff series of Pacers vs Raptors on YouTube and I can guarantee that you will be glad we have him on our roster.

Edit: This is a highlight reel from last year. Solomon Hill in his limited role last year

Pretty fun stuff. Is he worth 50 million? No. But we had to overpay since we can't get very free agent.

I don't doubt he is a guy we may like on the roster. The question is whether $48-$52 million in guaranteed money is too high a price to pay for a guy who has yet to prove anything. If he busts out as the Pelicans hope, it will be a bargain. If he continues as he has so far in the NBA, it is an overpayment for an average bench player.

As long as he can stretch that one series over 82 games, that's fine with me. And if we spent that much for a bench player, that's hilarious.

He puts up 12/5/2 and good defense you're getting what a slightly above average 3&d is making at 2/3 of the price.

It's boom or bust in a small sense, it won't kill us in the long run, but we have to hit on at least Moore and free agents next year if that's the case

Hill was a guy who improved every year in college, particularly his shooting, and also filled the stat sheet with rebounds, assists, and steals. He is also athletic and universally known as a hard worker, but after showing some flashes last November when he got a chance to start in Paul George’s absence, he has tailed off quite a bit and is now barely in Indiana’s rotation. His 3-point shooting has gone from bad to okay to awful, but many experts say that FT shooting is actually a better predictor of future 3-pt percentage for wings, and Hill is fantastic, hitting 83.2% of his 200+ career attempts.

How are you defining "awful?" Because post all star break Hill shot 41% from three. +50% in the playoffs. Though the latter is a very small sample size.

Not that I am sold on the contract or anything yet, though if I am being positive, finding unheralded wings is kind of something Ferry has a history of.

The focus is kind of one sided here. I think people are really overlooking the defensive side of his acquisition. You have to believe that his defensive IQ and versatility is his most attractive quality here.

We now have a guy who can play a huge role in bringing the defensive scheme together.

Now I'm not saying he's the anchor of the defense but his role will be important in how we defend going forward. He's the glue guy that will allow Holiday, Davis, and Asik to shine on the defensive end.

I'm saying this now, we will finally see what an Erman defense looks LIKE.

Yeah but that's where the NBA is headed. Young guys with potential and a solid skill set(offense or defense) get payed that way. You don't get paid what your worth, only the amount of leverage you have to negotiate. But yes, we did overpay by a few million. This kid is a solid bench player though. He just can't be the last move we make in the offseason.

He will average double digit points and about 7 boards with a hand full of assist and a block or steal every night. We get that and he's a bargain. Remember he played behind Paul George!

Demps would have "payed" Jerome Moiso $50 million after one playoff series too.

Was always against signing this bum. Hate when people try to justify a bad signing when it happens
