The exchange between Monty and Pop was great too. He was genuinely happy and proud of Monty. It probably is a great feeling for Pop to see one of his former assistants to achieve something like this.

He still has a lot to prove IMO. If we get swept or are only competitive in 1 game, I think all the reservations about Monty remain. On the flip side, if we are competitive or even do the unthinkable and win, we may have to change our minds about Monty's ceiling.

Agreed, Monty did a great job last night.

I think he and Dell get another year.

If either of them gets fired after this year, the franchise will catch a large amount of warranted flack from the media.

The Warriors are a 67 win team in a historically great western conference. If we win 1 game It will be a success.

We beat them in the Blender last week, and we almost beat them in the Blender earlier in the season without AD, Cole, QPon, Cunnigham (we lost in OT). Unless the 4 we lose are really close, I will consider only 1 win a disappointment. This team has shown they can beat any level of competition at home.

I still think this team needs another coach, but I can't help but like the guy and want him to succeed.

What I meant is that he's going to get his last year on his contract, I still don't think he's getting extended. Remember the Warriors fires Mark Jackson after making the playoffs last season, too. The media has talked about how they think Monty is a bad coach.

The Mark Jackson thing was because of a there was some issues with him and the upper management.

Monty does not have that issue. Maybe Monty is just figuring out how to drive this car. He has been coaching better down the stretch

Mark Jackson was supposedly fired because he is an a-hole that can't get along with his bosses. It had nothing to do with performance.

The majority of the media are hacks without any real basketball acumen.

And he shouldn't there is still a lot to prove. I also don't buy this Lame Duck argument. If Woj's report is true this was essentially a lame duck season and Demps and Monty seemed to do their best work when their backs were up against the wall.

I wouldn't say nothing. Supposedly a big part of why the Warriors never wanted to do Klay for Love was because they thought he could be even better with a better coach.

We've beaten every playoff team except 3 this year (Bulls/Wiz/Blazers) and almost all of those losses came in 2014.
We have proven all year that we can beat elite teams. The Bulls are the only team that looked like we could not compete with imo this year.

We have proven all year that we can lose to the crappy teams as well, losing to 12 of the 16 non-playoff teams, which is just retarded.

I would be disappointed if we didn't win a game, i expect 1, wouldn't be surprise with 2 and would be very happy with 3, but my gut says we close this series out in 6 and go on to play Memphis, who we will beat in 6, only to lose to the Spurs in 6 in the conference finals.

I like your gut, sir. It's a very sexy gut which symbolizes maturity, wisdom, and self-confidence.

Thoughts on Monty Going Forward

Monty has coached great last night and over the last few weeks. He has bought himself a stay of execution IMO, but if we get swept or play like shite in the first round I will be back on the fire monty wagon. IMO he needs to win atleast 2 games in the GS series to be safe.

I really felt the connection between Monty and the players and this franchise and city last night in the celebration. You can tell how much it means to him. And I felt a little guilty for how many times I've posted #firemonty. I think this experience will make the team realize how important it is to come out with that fire and intensity every game, and that's the main thing I've been angry with him about. If the team starts showing more consistentcy I'll be content with Monty as our coach

I mentioned that they've talked about how bad he is, because you said they'd give him flak if they fire him.
