Thought regarding the wild FA periods the next two years: new CBA

The next two years are going to be batshit crazy money wise.
Could teams be more willing to give insane money when they expect another amnesty provision to be coming in 2 years?

I'm not sure there is going to be an amnesty. We will have to see what the next 2 years being like you said, but right now Asik is one of the worst contracts in the league. That's not bad and most teams have cap space so why add an amnesty clause?

Well with guys like Biyombo potentially getting max deals, if Asik can come back this season playing even 40% better then he did last season, his contract might not look all that bad in comparison to the market by next offseason.

They're going to hand out insane money regardless.
I do wonder if some teams might be more willing to give big, long term contracts to lure older guys knowing there is a potential cap decrease in 2 years and they can amnesty big ticket vets as they age into obsolescence

Agreed..In the next two years we could potentially see multiple stars from multiple teams be on the move!

That won't be the case a month from now.

Yeah, the case for adding an amnesty clause is likely to happen this offseason. Who will be the worst contract a year from now?
Barnes
Biyombo
Chanandler
Whiteside
Ryno
Brandon Jennings
Someone we don't think will get close to Max?
And will the Pelicans be one of the teams that gave out this bad deal meaning if there is an amnesty clause they can't use it on Asik

Bismack to me will the be worst contract

The Asik contract is not that bad if he is healthy and at least part of the rotation. His contract was given with the upcoming cap increase in mind.

His contract is bad, and unless he learns how to jump, catch, move his feet, and dunk, or at the very least, give a shite and hustle, it will continue to be a terrible contract.
He's a negative on both sides of the court at all times for the most part.

I don't think his contract will ever be a positive, but by next year, it will be just 10% of the cap and 8% of what you can spend before you get to the lux tax. It won't prevent you from really doing anything than you would otherwise do
If he can become a solid 7th/8th man, he will be worth his contract. He was that in 2014-15, he was not that in 2015-16. We shall see what he is moving forward.

If any of those rumors are even close to true - Noah.

I also don't think Benson would ever give the green light to amnesty a guy anyway, so it's all a moot point
This team operates on a fixed budget every year. Even if they did amnesty a guy so it didn't count against the NBA cap, his deal would still count against the Benson budget. So, from our GMs perspective, it's kinda pointless to do
