We will be out of playoff contention by the end of December. If this team has any hope of contending for a spot, they better hope Jrue comes back within the next three weeks or so.

We knew going in that this team was too thin to survive without both AD and Holiday. The only thing making us upset is that AD alone was almost good enough to get 2 wins. "AD alone" isn't even accurate, AD weighed down by a bunch of dead weight was almost good enough to start out 2-1.

The defense is performing better than expected, the shooting is so bad it can't possibly remain that way. With any luck Jrue will actually come back Mid November and they can claw their way to .500ish by January.

I called this shite all off season. We have 0 offense and this team had over confidence in Gentry's ability because some scrub played meaningless games with a good offensive rating.

I mean these are professional basketball players, most of whom have previous records of being able to score in respectable ways. In cases like Solomon Hill, he HAS contributed offensively in very specific ways (increased % in corner 3 last year if I remember correctly).

This abysmal offense can't possibly continue...can it?

The thing that should be sticking out to most people is they started what is not really a one year plan. Now maybe Loomis approved that with the thinking that the moves fit Ferry's vision if it doesn't work out for Demps/Gentry, but it could also mean the leash on Demps/Gentry is longer than most are thinking.

Guys that are terrible at 3s never take them. Everyone they signed had a good enough track record.

Galloway has never averaged less than 34% from 3.
Hill's low mark was 30.4% as a rookie and 32% the other years.
Moore's previous low was 34% and he shot 45% last season.

They are a combined 3/25 so far. Getting them "up" to 33% would add 5 more points per game to the mix. That still would be a bad offense, but it wouldn't be as bad.

Yes, they will revert to the mean and get better but AD will revert to the mean and get worse, no?

Do we really expect 38 points per game? 13 FTA's per game? Of course not

If you use revert to mean for the other guys, you gotta use it for AD too

That's true, but having a more balanced roster with multiple guys scoring more efficiently is a more sustainable win model than one guy going crazy and everyone else sucking.

I'm not as down on this team as most people. I think these new signings will come along. but...

This just sounds like the same old excuse we use. Which will turn into "he needs time to get back in shape and used to the new guys" which will then turn into, "by the time he got all caught up the playoffs are out of reach"

The fact of the matter is, if we want any chance of making the playoffs we can't wait for Jrue to lead us there. We need the guys we have to step up.

Why not? You or Ryan pointed out on the podcast that he's not even being that efficient, his scoring is coming from such a high usage rate and the

Cousins and Harden averaged 10.2 per game last year. So AD averages 35 instead of 38 and we hopefully start knocking down a few more 3s per game to make up for it.

Logically you'd think he'd come back down to earth and average a mere 32ish, how could he be much better than 14-15 Westbrook trying to will OKC to the playoffs? But there probably isn't a better team for taking a player out of a game than the Spurs. Who else is going to have an answer for him? This isn't like Westbrook/Harden where there are 10+ perimeter defenders in the league that are capable of slowing them down. Nobody except maybe LeBron is built to stop the AD we saw in the first 2 games. Team defense might be the only way to slow down AD and there are only so many good team defenses out there. It will probably be closer to 32 than 35 by the time Jrue comes back, but 35 would not be surprising to me.

I've honestly like the direction. The results are showing up on the defensive end. Unfortunately, we are putting a lot of pressure on Holiday to be the player that takes the roster to the next level. That's almost expecting him to have a CP3 like presence if and when he returns which makes me very nervous because I'm not sure he's that type of impact player.

It's like the season right now is hinging on what Holiday can do for the team.

this team has been dependent on low margin for error and hope for a long time now
no reason it would be any different this year

Pels just signed Kline as Dell Demps assistant. Smart guy with knowledge about HS and NCAA. Especially HS. Well regarded.

See Justin Verrier or Adam Zagoria for tweets

They were 4th last year. And they are 29th overall because of the bad offensive rebounding, but that's a strategic decision where they choose transition defense over offensive rebounding. I'm ok with that tradeoff, but what I don't like is Terrence Jones getting so many minutes. We really need a better backup 4/5 tweener.

What planet are y'all on? You are what your record says you are. Listening to the same shite every game from last year and now this year that this team is on its way. What a joke. This team is not serious about winning, the proof of that is that they hired a coach that's a loser.
