When Jrue gets back, this team will play at a playoff level.

yup.

Need to hold down the fort until then. But there are positives. Still obvious holes (5, shooting/creating, defensive communication) but they can be a competent team.

Perhaps not playoffs, but we can't talk about this being a mini rebuild and then freakout after 2 losses. There are about 40 more coming

1st AD is looking like the MVP we were hoping for last season. I think he can avg. 30 and 10.

The defense is not a bad as people are saying we really hustle and close out on defense we are aggressive and trying to create turnovers but because of that we are out of position for rebounds, need to rotate and communicate

Offense we look good moving the ball going through AD but man the outside shot is way off. Hopefully somebody can step up.

I think Frazier can be the real deal if he can developed a 3 but very solid back up to Jrue or playing next to Jrue

I watched Hill only on defense and he is good on defense offense not so much

But Moore and hill are now starters and hopefully it is just an adjustment period

Lance has surprised me the most

So far I have really enjoyed the season. Not the losing but the scrappyness of the team. Constant movement no walking the ball up the court

I love that AD is taking people off the dribble and starting the fastbreaks.

No worse than OKC who's been close games despite crazy numbers from Westbrook

Obviously, Westbrook needs to demand a trade and get the frick outta there

This constant switch defense is nauseatingly bad right now.

Sixers and Suns are a far cry from Denver and GSW(plus SAS) tonight

OKC has played the sixers and the suns
pels have played the nuggets and the warriors

pels are 29th in 3pt % after two games hitting only 8/41
if just a few open looks they've had were to fall they'd be 1-1 minimum and we'd all be happy about the effort vs GSW

they are going to lose against SAS tonite and they will be 0-3
best possible scenario after these three was 1-2

I'm happy with what we've seen so far
Davis will be fine and the team is quite obviously showcasing him until holiday gets back
when he does, assuming he's in shape, and ready to be a 25% usage player, the lineups will be more balanced. only thing I don't like so far is the lack of effort in running specific plays to get buddy open. Twice last nite lance had th chance to drop it behind him for buddy to take clear uncontested 3's and ignored him. Buddy needs to see his three ball go in a couple times and he'll be fine

I can see that aswell. Just from watching 3 games it looks like they just need that one extra playmaker on the court. Gentry thought it would be Stevenson or Hill in Holidays absence but that's obviously not the case

This team still lacks what they've always lacked, and that's a true scorer at the 2 or 3, and a 5 that actually deserves to be in the NBA.

They supposedly traded offense for defense this offseason, but the defense still looks like shite. I'm sure Jrue can help with that, but not having a 5 makes things rather difficult. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt to make some adjustments but if they are still allowing 105+ a game come January, then this is looking like a colossal failure of an offseason on the free agents.

What they really need is Gordon Hayward.
It would be hard to trade for him since he has a player option for next year, so i'm sure he'll opt out so he can sign a $30 million a year contract. If we traded for him would we have the rights to give him the most money?
Jrue/Buddy and a first or two for Hayward.
Maybe a guy like John Wall, if he's frustrated playing in Washington.
I really doubt we could get anything for Jrue/Buddy/2017 1st, but it's worth a shot.

The realistic option is to go get Rudy Gay, which we could probably get for not much, and i think he'd be a big help on the offensive side of the ball. Someone that can get their own shot. AD and Lance are the only two that can do that now. and had we not kept that "15th man" we'd just have AD as the sole guy that could get a shot off when needed.

Well, i can't hide my lying eyes, then, because outside of AD, this may be the worst NBA roster I have seen since they started letting black people play.

Yet it's rated 13th in DRtg with 2/3 of the opponnents being practically top 10 offenses (Spurs are #2 in ORtg Warriors #11). 13th in DRtg is even more impressive (or perhaps more unsustainable) when you realize they are 29th in Rebound%. They are giving teams extra chances to score and still stifling them at a slightly above average rate.

He is the dream. It will be a sad day for Pels fans when he either stays in Utah or signs with Boston.

I'm not saying John Wall isn't good, but he's not that much better than Jrue to make the hole on the wing any less noticeable. Even if Solomon Hill can become a legit 3 and D starting level SF, that still doesn't make the Pels a contender. They need a Hayward/Butler/George, or they need CP3 level PG to let you just have shooters on the wing.

They've had multiple shots at him and declined. As crazy as it sounds I'm kind of interested in seeing what they can do with Lance. What would you bet on being the most likely way we upgrade the SF position?

Trade for or sign Hayward/Butler/George in the next 1-3 years.
Fred Vinson helps Lance develop an outside shot, and Lance looking for a permanent NBA home is able to get his head screwed on straight?

None of those are high probability events, but the Lance scenario seems the most likely.

Justin Verrier ?@JustinVerrier Anthony Davis is currently second in the NBA in PER (37.52). Pelicans' offense is currently second-worst in the NBA (92.7 per 100 poss.).

Meanwhile: Despite playing Warriors and Spurs, Pelicans' defense is ranked 13th in the NBA. Would be highest - by far - in the AD era.
