I just listed 8 of them in the other thread, without listing any on rookie contracts.
The only 2 guys available on your list will cost as much as Asik, certainly more than the MLE, and everyone else on your list is under contract for one more year.
I don't love Asik, I think this team would be amazing with a young Tyson Chandler and hope we can get there one day as we accumulate more talent and tradeable assets. I defend him because most of the arguments against him are flawed and full of wishful thinking on the alternatives.

I know where you're coming from.
I just don't like the guys effort. I can live with the terrible offense if he brought it every night on the defensive end, but there are games where he's a liability even on the defensive end.
I bitch about him b/c no center is going to help us win a championship imo, at least not as one of our top 4 players, and i don't want to invest big money in one. What we need is a legit wing player that can score on his own. EG is a good role player, and i like him now, and he's great at set 3's, but he's not a scorer anymore.
I think our direction should be to find a way to get a top flight talented wing on this team, while keeping AD and Jrue. A team of Jrue, pipe dream Leonard, and AD will win a championship way before a team of Jrue, AD, and any center not named shaq or olajawon will. If it takes two years to do this, so be it. I'm willing to miss the playoffs next year if that's what it takes.
Look at the Clippers. 20 million to CP, 18 million to Griffin. Next year they have to decide if they want to give Jordan 19 million or let him walk.
You can't tell me they would be better off signing Jordan at 19 million as opposed to getting Butler or Leonard for the same money.

I think we've had this discussion before and I agree with your general principles on paying for wing rather than center, but the problem is how do we get there? If you want FA wing, this is the year to go after one, but not only do we lack the cap space to go after a SF, we lack the cap space to go after a SF and replace Asik with a decent $5 million center. Trades are probably the way forward and that means mostly signing guys to reasonable contracts. The cap escalation throws things off some, but I'm hoping signing Asik in a year when there are quite a few top centers on the means we'll get him for a good value.
Also, tell me that after watching these 2 games that we don't win both against the best team in the league at home if Holiday, Tyreke and Ryno are 100%. Game 1 is a little more iffy but I'm pretty sure we win game 2 at full strength. If we can do that, maybe we don't need a star wing as much as we think.

I agree completely. We would have easily won last night if either Reke or Jrue were healthy. Tyreke just couldn't be himself last night.
If Ryno is Ryno of old, i sort of want to keep Asik. This team when healthy as is, can be very good.
I like our guards with Jrue/Cole/EG/Tyreke
I like our SF when QPon is hitting the 3. I love want Dante brings to the team, and hope we keep him.
I like having Ryno coming in with a healthy second team, and i like Asik protecting AD. What we need is a backup center that can play, or at least another big 4 that can play some of the 5 on the second unit.
I'm happy with this team when healthy and playing on all cylinders. Keep this team and add another big, and we are really good, if healthy. Big if.
I just don't want to throw money at Asik just b/c we can. If he's not what's right for this team, than don't waste the money. You may not have the money this year to do anything, but you will the next year, but if you resign him to mulit year, that can limit us.
I'd rather give him $12 million for 1 year than 4 years at even $7. There's just too many FA after next year to tie ourselves up right now.
We are trending up, and can be a place top talent might want to come join up with AD. I'd like to have two guys on the books at the end of next year, healthy Jrue and AD for 2017. If we can't attract a big name or two, then basketball doesn't need to be in New Orleans b/c the only way we will ever be good is by luck in the draft, and you have to have draft picks to have any luck.

2016 Center Free Agents:
Starters:
Brook Lopez - yes, will likely cost too much
Roy Hibbert - yes, will likely cost too much
Joakim Noah - yes, will likely cost too much
Al Jefferson - yes, but market might be high for him. I see a decent 3yr contract for him. he'd be 31
Nene Hilario - yes, but at that stage it'd be a backup. He'd be 34 going into 2016.
Al Horford - ATL is going to re-sign him
Timofey Mozgov - Cleveland is going to re-sign
Jonas Valanciunas - Toronto is going to re-sign
Andre Drummond - Detroit is going to re-sign
Meyers Leonard - Portland is going to re-sign, especially if they let Lopez walk
Tyler Zeller - Boston is going to re-sign
Hassan Whiteside - Miami is going to re-sign
Backups:
Brendan Haywood - too old/bad
Jordan Hill - rather Asik
JJ Hickson - rather Asik
Zaza Pachulia - rather Asik
Chris Kaman - won't get him
Ian Mahinmi - career backup
Robert Sacre - no
Festus Ezeli - young, they'll let Speights walk after next year if he develops properly

Which means they were about 99% ungettable for this franchise. This is a terrible thread and the whiners should all get together and cry it out.

Let me know when you find a legit wing player that can score on his own, defend the 3 adequately, and be signed using Pelican Rights.

Damn, I just realized this was a shitty bump of a shitty thread. Bumper deserves to have his mouth farted in by Rosie O'Donnell.

Except you wouldn't make the NBA, because you have to actually be good at basketball to make it in the NBA. You seem to think that average in the NBA = average, when in fact, average in the NBA is one of the 25 best in the world.

Hi, I'm Teddy. I'm an angry mouth breather who has banked $34k in my career. I am slow on the uptick and incapable of recognizing context.
