The injuries can't be as bad as last year, right?

7 Pelicans listed on tonight's injury report. 3 are definite starters and 3 are starting caliber players we'd probably be starting in their place if they were available

I've never been so uninterested in my favorite team a week before the season starts. It's laughable at this point. It's laughable our medical staff still has their jobs.

MM has said that the team believes it's mostly been bad luck, but they had 3 players go down for the season by reinjuring the injury they had allegedly recovered from. If that doesn't tell them they're doing it to themselves, I don't know what will.

I mean...it's gotta be the medical staff and treatment right? This is every single season. Is Buddy ok for now at least?

I think Joe Vitt is in charge of the hiring the medical staff for the Saints and Pelicans.

Eric Gordon & Ryan Anderson will both play at least 75 games each this year

Not a great way to start but don't completely jinx it before the first game even happens.

Yeah if Gordon and Anderson play that many games it goes to show it is our medical staff. It's a joke. We have this buddy hield guy who was the most exciting college player last season, and I'm uninterested. Usually i can't wait.

Yeah it just seems like this is a recurring problem for about as long as I can remember with this team. Pre-dating the AD era.

My gut tells me it probably is more complex then just that, but at some point you have to think things are somewhat systemic.

I honestly feel like this Benson ownership/Loomis oversight is completely fricking this team over.

I will be forever grateful to Benson for stepping up and saving the team and keeping them in NOLA, but my god having a mentally questionable owner with no energy/capacity to make necessary changes fricking sucks.

Benson trusts Loomis and has essentially made him the de facto owner (in the sense that he controls basically ever decision for both the Saints and the Pels). Loomis either doesn't give a frick, or (more likely) is a non-basketball guy who is stretched way too thin managing both franchises.

Benson will spend the money of facilities etc, but being a successful owner is so much more than signing the checks. Clearly the president (Loomis) is unwilling or unable to address the problems with this franchise. That's when the owner steps in and either makes changes himself or finds someone willing and able to do so. Benson, unfortunately, isn't that owner at this stage. It looks like Loomis will be running the Saints and the Pels into the ground until at least the death of Tom Benson. And if Rita loves him as much as Tom does, we are truly fricked for the foreseeable future. Just feels like Loomis is all too aware that the one guy he answers to has already checked out, so doing whatever it takes to improve the two franchises is not the highest priority.

I don't know what the solution is, because I'm not advocating for Benson to sell the team or anything, but it doesn't look like the underlying systemic issues with both the Saints and the Pels will be addressed anytime soon. Sucks man.

Well last year our coach never made it on the injury report...

man I just really can't believe how uninterested I am in this season- we have freaking Buddy Hield and I'm like ehhhh he could score 20 a game and we'll still be in the lottery. This is my favorite team out of any sport. It sucks us fans have to go through this. It's not like we're bad because of lack of talent year to year. We're bad because we've set historic records as it relates to injuries and time missed.

Yeah demps has made some questionable moves, but what GM hasn't? Maybe Danny Ainge, regardless: this team never has a chance if they aren't healthy, and it starts with the centerpiece of this franchise. Anthony Davis.

It tells me that their body part can't do basketball anymore.

It's a great sacrifice to play certain sports.
