You really think he has that much leverage? By all means he's good but he averaged 6.2 points and 2 rebounds on the season, plus he probably lost a lot of leverage by the spurs renouncing him

The amount of cash NBA teams are throwing around mixed with his youth and previous coaching is probably enough to secure a good payday. Add his playoff run and that's just icing on the cake.

He was much more of a factor in the postseason, however, averaging 10.5 points in 20.4 minutes per game. With Kawhi Leonard missing most of the Western Conference Finals, Simmons stepped up in a big way, averaging 15.3 points and 3.3 assists in the four-game Warriors sweep

From what I've been hearing I do not want. He's apparently going to be paid handsomely due to the WCF. All this despite his being a 5th year player who averages 6.1 per game for his career.

I think Simmons is good and would start for us, but there's always a chance he's Solomon Hill 2.0

The amount of cash NBA teams are throwing around

With it being nearly two weeks after FAs were allowed to begin negotiations and a week after being able to sign, the market has dried up significantly.

And many of those huge contracts handed out last offseason coupled with a lower than anticipated cap for the upcoming season has made for much less money available this time around

Hardaway Jr. contract aside, this isn't the free agency period of the past two seasons, teams have not been willing to throw around those crazy contracts. Also, the market has pretty much dried up so Simmons will probably go for the cheap. If I were him, I would try amd get a 1 + 1 with a player option and use this season as a probing grounds, and reenter the market next season.

I really like Simmons and would love to see him on the Pels, but I'm not sure its a perfect match, especially if he is really expensive. I think he would bring a lot of flexibility to the line up (we could go really big with AD, Boogie, Hill, Simmons and Holiday), but I don't see him as a knockdown shooter or primary/secondary ballhandler. Plus isn't he like 2 years older than Hill?

Simmons isn't going to be the same player on a team other than the Spurs. It happens every year

Take his past performances with a grain of salt

I like Simmons too, but he is a version of Solomon Hill. athletic wing who can't shoot but plays above his head in the playoffs? gee, that sounds familiar.

+ Simmons has been sprinkled w/ magic Spurs dust. magic Pels dust would mean Simmons contracts ebola within 8 months of signing.

if they can get him for cheap, great. they need more competent players. but I wouldn't expect playoff Simmons 3pt shooting
