The Life of a Designated Shooter

LINK

quote:

When it came down to the wire, (Demps) was calling like everyday," Morrow said. "He said, 'Monty Williams plays a lot of people. We need you, we need a shooter on the perimeter. We got a lot of guys that can get to the rim, we got some some playmakers, we don’t have anybody that can stretch the defense and do what you do. We need that. It’s not like we just want you and we’re just telling you this, we actually need you in this position where you come in and play and get back to where you were before last season.'"

quote:

He's used this summer to make sure he takes advantage of his latest opportunity, working out at Accelerate Basketball just outside Charlotte six days out of the week, taking off only on Sunday. There, he works out alongside pros such as Stephen Curry and Antawn Jamison, soaking in information and pointers from each. But mostly, he's intent to become the best Anthony Morrow.

Apparently Morrow believed him, and Dell kept quiet about some Ryan Anderson fellow.

There's no like about it, he was calling you every day Anthony. That's probably been the most consistently reported aspects of Demps GMship. I wonder how long it took him to replace restaurants with other teams on the speed dial.

Monty is really going to have a tough time giving out minutes. Morrow + Anderson + Davis + 2 creative guards seems like a pretty potent lineup on paper.

Morrow was definitely the most underrated acquisition the Pels made this offseason.

Pick and rolls with Davis and Jrue will be dangerous with two 40+% shooters spotted up on the wing.

To be fair, I think he was talking about guards that can shoot. None of the guards are really known for being floor spacers. Jrue and Gordon have hit the 3 a good clip, but they are usually creating, not spotting up the way Morrow does.

Monty has got some great options for lineups. Defense will be the issue, but rolling out 2 of Jrue/Gordon/Reke + Morrow with Davis/Anderson has the potential to be incredible on offense
