Looking at what the Celtics are doing is amazing with all the picks and players they got after the trades with the nets. With AD always getting injured and more than likely demps and gentry will be gone next season, should we try and gets some picks and young players? The next two drafts are suppose to be really good and I don't see AD staying after his new contract runs out.

Yeah I'm bored. But I think in 2-3 years this topic may be a more acceptable topic to talk about.

Only if Silver agrees to give us that Cleveland deal for 3 no.1 overall picks over a 4 year post AD span.

The problem with that is you need

1. A really good to borderline great coach

2. A GM who knows how to draft/ make decent trades

3. A patient owner willing to bottom out

4. A patient fanbase that wont call for the head of said coach during the growth process.

I dont think we have even 1 of those.

Only if the team is moving to Seattle.

What if we could get lavine, dieng, and a minny first rounder plus maybe another future first?

Looks like that might be what minny might offer to bulls for butler if they even do that. So we could get more than that.

No, we should not.
We should actually keep our draft picks and build a team around AD.

No more getting average players who cost a lot aka Asik, Tyreke, and Gordon.

We've been trying to build a team around him for 5 years now and it's been a complete failure.

with young draft picks. What Im saying is that if we continue to trade draft picks for average players (like the rumor of trading the #6 pick for deangelo russell).

but bottom line, we are't trading AD.

I dont think that Minny first rounder will be all that valuable if they live up to expectations

I'm just making an example out of the possible on minny and Chicago may do. What I'm saying is we could do it with a team that'll have a top 5 pick and could get a couple of them

If we got something insane like 3 first (which Dell would probably flip for something stupid) you'd have to think about it. There is some value to what you are saying because ADs value will never be higher. He's not holding the team hostage just yet. Hell he may never even play 70 games.

But despite all that i think you have to try and make it work untill the bitter end. Lets face it, we will never flat out sign a talent like him. Who knows when that next star comes.

We also dont have a fanebase that can support a team of meh players. We have to have a star to survive as a francise.

If there is not significant improvement within the next 2-3 years then it's not a matter of if but when. Everyone should agree that there is a 99% chance AD leaves once his second contract is up. If the Pelicans are still sucking then the new GM better be proactive and start looking for the best possible deal he can get. It's best to trade him a yr to early than a yr to late.

Obviously if AD tells management that he wants to retire a Pelican then all bets are off

The only thing I think that might keep AD long term is a calipari hire.

Im not sure what to think about that but is giving him control really any worse than we are now?

Plus, he'd probably be our best (and only) recruiter.

That is my last ditch effort. My "in case of emergency break glass" type move.
