Pels keeping Misty what a joke.

Look at the wording from the Ochsner press release and the 2 phrases they connected:

quote:

Dr. Suri will still remain as the Pelicans’ physician, and Ochsner Health System will remain an official sponsor of both the New Orleans Saints and the New Orleans Pelicans,

Did the Pels take one for the team to keep a corporate sponsor happy?

Did Keenan mention Suri is his interview on WWL? His tweet seemed to give support to Suri but that could be me reading into it. I could've been he had no dealings with Suri so he didn't want to include Suri with Jones.

Maybe they should go with best doctors in the area instead of oschner only

People are coming out in defense of Suri and not Jones. So that may have saved his job with the Pels.

Yeah but if the Saints fired him he had to have been in a position to give a differing opinion and didn't. So he either misdiagnosed Breaux too or he deferred to his colleague when his colleague was wrong. Neither are good. But as I've said, the results for the Pels were much better last year and the process does seem to have changed. We might even be getting QPon back.

or they could go with the best doctors in the country, and whoever you choose can move their arse down here if they aren't already here.

I would imagine being the team doctor, you don't have other responsibilities outside of that.

This whole ordeal is shitty for both the Saints and the Pelicans, and is a huge deterrent in free agency for both teams.

Team doctor might be 10% of the physicians time and only a small portion of their income.

This is probably best route. You will see James Andrews on sidelines at Redskins games.

Really?
I guess i could see that a little with a basketball team, but with a football team having that many guys you'd think there time would be well occupied.

just looking at Misty Suri's studying

Ben Franklin Grad (local kid)
BA UPenn (penns a good school)
Chicago Med School (not to be confused with U of Chicago)

employed by Oschner since Med School

IMO, frick this guy. Granted Delivn Breaux is injury-prone, but this is clearly nothing more than Appeasing the backward-arse Oschner family

Who just paid for naming rights to a practice facility of all things. I think they need to turn this negative into a positive. Do what Fun Bunch said in another thread about building a state of the art Sports Medicine facility on the campus Ochsner just put their name on. Let it be "run" by Ochsner but let it be directed by the Saints/Pels. The teams get the doctors and equipment they want, Ochsner can see outside patients at the facility as long as Saints/Pels are always at the front of the line. It'd quickly become a profit center for Ochsner as anyone with a serious sports injury in the region would go there.

That's actually a really great idea. Every HS athlete in the metro area will want to get the surgery done the same place the Saints/Pels get there work done.

Forget the metro area. If they did it right any kid hoping to play college ball that lived in south LA would want to go there. Joe six pack with a twisted ankle would go just to come back with the story that he saw Drew Brees or Anthony Davis walk by the waiting room.

I've heard nothing but good things about Dr. Suri, though, to be honest, I find it very odd they are keeping him. The first time someone takes longer to come back from injury, as we've seen happen frequently with this team, fingers will be pointing his way. But also, if you were a player, wouldn't you immediately get a second opinion on every injury now?

Also, Pondexter shouldn't really be used as an example of anything. Most of his stuff predates Suri's time with the team, but more than that it's not really about the Pels' med staff.

That was happening any way, we just didn't have names to use in our baseless, anonymous internet accusations.

That is reason enough to clean house. The team really needs to do everything it can to put out the dumpster fire perception. It'd be one thing if Suri was at the top of his field and you didn't want to lose someone that'd be hard to replace. I don't think we've heard anything about him that makes him sound irreplaceable.

Can you elaborate on that any? I assume you'd have given details if you could but there seems to be a lot of smoke around QPon's injury situation being a bit scandalous.

But now those aren't baseless, anonymous internet accusations. Team can weather the first. Now it's be legitimized.

I wouldn't necessarily call it scandalous...complex might be the best word for it. I talked about it a bit on the podcast today as well. But unfortunately can't give details.

Damn, that dude did my hand surgery back in 2003. I thought he was a good doc.

Suri operated on me and I got staph infection. Operation didn't work out either. I wasn't impressed.

The Saints have zeroed in on 2 replacements. Both appear to be local (one's in BR) but don't appear to be tied to Ochsner. If the Saints aren't going back with Ochsner that makes it seem even more like the Pels took one for the team by keeping Dr. Suri.

Orthopedic specialists Dr. Larry "Chip" Bankston and Dr. Michael Hartman have emerged as leading candidates to join the New Orleans Saints' medical staff for the 2017 season, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.

...Bankston, a graduate of LSU, is currently employed at the Baton Rouge Orthopedic Clinic. He completed his medical studies at LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. He was a resident at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine and completed a shoulder and elbow fellowship at OrthoCarolina Sports Medicine in Charlotte, N.C.

Hartman received his undergraduate degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette in 1997 and completed his medical studies at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport in 2001, according to his LSU Health Systems bio. He was a resident went at the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education in Rochester, Minn, and completed a fellowship at the Birmingham, Ala.-based American Sports Institute, founded by renowned orthopedic specialist Dr. James Andrews.
