The Saints have fired team orthopedists Deryk Jones and Misty Suri, per source, after it was discovered that CB Delvin Breaux has a fractured fibula and will require surgery expected to sidelined him for 4-6 weeks. Breaux was originally diagnosed with a contusion – and the team was frustrated that he wasn't recovering more quickly until the missed diagnosis was revealed. It was accurately reported that the team has had an issue with Breaux's string of nagging injuries in the past, but this case is different. And it seems unlikely at this point that the team will be as eager to trade or release Breaux.

I don't know if these 2 also worked with the Pelicans or not, but we've all felt for a while the medical/training staff on both teams was subpar. The first step in fixing a problem is admitting you have one.

Both worked for major corporate sponsor Ochsner, so them working on the Pels too would make sense. The bad thing is we (hopefully) were using Ochsner's 2 best orthopedic surgeons. If we replace them with 2 more from Ochsner, which seem likely if only because Ochsner is paying millions of dollars a year to the teams, then you'd think we're getting the B team. Although maybe the B team motivated by seeing the A team fired will yield better results.

Jones and Suri worked with the #Pelicans as well

Not that Oleh doesn't do good research, but I don't think he has access to the team like the beat writers do. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but do any of TBW guys have press passes like some of the BSS guys do?

This Quincy Pondexter saga is long & sordid, going beyond the #Pelicans medical staff as well. I hope he discusses it publicly one day.

So Pels doctors didn't fix him and then outside doctors didn't fix him? Hopefully he's finally found his anonymous doctor from Chicago like Eric Gordon did.

We're sorry, your bruise is actually a fractured fibula.

Oschner right now

Suri was only with the Pelicans for a year-plus but was their head team physician and director of medical services.

To be fair to Suri I think most would argue the Pels had decent health results last year.

Shitshow from top to bottom. The ineptitude from these two teams' medical staffs, extending to both teams' management, is staggering. Could go on forever about the medical staff, in particular. We have, over the years. There's a decade worth of trash.

But this specific situation might take the cake. The Saints FO was legitimately about to trade one of the best players on the team, because they were pissed off he was taking too long to come back from an injury that was misdiagnosed.

One of the best guys off of a defense thats been so historically bad for the better part of a decade, that those guys should've been fired twice over already.

Its like the culmination of all the reasons the Saints have managed to devolve into mediocrity, despite having one of the greatest QBs to ever live, in one incident.

Hall of Fame level incompetence.

Benson needs to go poach some of the top orthos from HSS or another highly regarded medical center and bring them to Ocshner. He is spending money like a drunken sailor, but can't go get the top guys to protect his two biggest assets? Ridiculous.

Keenan Lewis chimed in on Instagram.

quote:

balllike21 Thank God and I'm not talking about Dr. Sari cause he is an assistant. I'm bless this foolishness come to a end my prayers have been answered. I wish they would've believed me instead of going if his reports, I probably still would be on the 53 man roster. I'm gald another player don't have to suffer like I did # thank you lord truly appreciate it. I hop the Nfl take this serious and handle my case correct for real.

So we now have 4 pretty high profile cases where the player says they were injured and the doctor disagreed and the doctor ends up being wrong. 2 Saints and 2 Pels Lewis, Breaux, Gordon, and QPon.

The source on QPon is VOR who used to do legal work for a corporate sponsor and would occasionaly get inside info handed to him. He had heard that the doctors thought QPon's injury was in his head, kind of like we had heard with Gordon. I'm not looking to out VOR's sources, but Ochsner is a corporate sponsor that would seem to be the kind of corporate sponsor that would have medical info to pass on. Just sayin.

Suri did a damn good job for the Pelicans last year, I can't blame him. Especially if KL is calling out Jones and not Suri too.

Do they have a guy who can't read an X-ray / MRI looking at these results?

You would think it would be easy to read a lot of breaks that you would see on the films.

This is the number 1 reason I've never liked Ochsner being both a corporate sponsor and team doctors. You are managing over $200 million per year worth of athletes. You should be paying the best doctors you can find to manage them rather than letting doctors pay you because they need to elevate their own standing in the community.
