You guys are far more educated than me when it comes to cap space and contracts and all.. So what is the deal with Rondo/ would you even be interested in having him? I know he has taken on more of a mentor role lately, but I wonder what he has left in the tank as he proved to be a very effective guard once upon a time. Especially interesting with the whole UK connection and theme the Pels have going on right now

He's a basket case and team cancer and frick no I don't want him.

Also Sacramento already tried the Cousins and Rondo experience

Ah I forgot he did a stint in Sac also. I think a lot of times the cancer is a product of is surroundings (same with Boogie). If he is happy, I think he could still be a 10 and 10 a night kind of guy

Where would Rondo fit in our offense? He's only effective when he has the ball in his hands to methodically break down a defense and kick to sniper shooter.

He sure as hell isnt going to be able to play shooting guard so do you want him as a back up pg?

You wanna move Holliday to the 2?

Plus he's as much of a head case as Cousins

In terms of cancer, cousins is like stage 1 colon cancer. Treatable. Could be bad... But treatable.

Rondo is like stage 4 glioblastoma, not good man.

Yes, was thinking in the PG capacity (backup or otherwise). Jrue could possible be a steady 2. Just trying to come up with something as the backcourt isn't exactly in the best shape at the moment

yeah cousins is like the emotional and sometimes selfish guy who can just be a whiner

rondo is a genius who hates anyone who isn't on his level, which is everyone, and is a total dick to anyone who disagrees with him in the slightest bit

He can pass well.

But with our front court, we want someone who is going stretch the court, not allow the defense to sag.

And he's awful at free throw shooting. There are roll players without his baggage.

Exactly

He and cousins love each other, too. Rondo was good last year in Sac

Bring Chris Duhon out of retirement. He's still young enough to give you a couple years as a quality backup point who's a natural leader and great locker room presence.

He retired after the 12-13 season, but had a 3-1 career assist-to-turnover ratio and 36.3% outside shooter - not incredible, but serviceable.

He's only 34. I mean, Vince Carter is still playing and he's in his 40s.

Problem with Rondo is he can't shoot and the league has moved away from non-shooting guards. We need a PG who can knock down open shots to pull the defense from sagging onto our two monsters in the lane.

Also, Rondo at his peak was an incredibly destructive perimeter defender. He's not at all anymore. He doesn't even really try on defense. So the 2 things we need most out of the other 3 guys we put on the court with Cousins and AD--perimeter shooting and defense--are the 2 things Rondo doesn't do at all. Taking out the character issues, his game is the worst possible fit for our team.

Another benefit to getting Chris to come out of retirement is he's a local and attendance would pick up just from him playing 10 minutes a game.

I know I'd go to every game if he was on the roster. Then again, he's someone I played against in high school, have hung out with at parties (our group of friends in high school overlapped so we often saw each other outside of school and off the court), and have interviewed him twice, once for a biweekly newspaper on the Northshore and once for a sports blog trying to gain some traction. I did the latter as a favor to the blog owner in return for a bunch of links to my various sites.

Point is, I'm very biased but would love to see it happen.

Duhon had back spasms on his way out of association.
Italy one season.
Assistant coach Marshall, dui#3 since retiring. conceded by resigning. End of duhon. Has money, thank god

I love the positives Rondo brings and think his effects go beyond just his stats, but the stats do say he's hurting the defense more than he's helping the offense.

Rajon Rondo and Jameer Nelson are the only rotation players with negative net ratings on the court.

Pelicans are 5 points better per 100 possessions (net) when Rondo sits than when he plays.

Pelicans DRtg
Rondo On: 114.1
Rondo Off: 104.4

Hopefully Hill's offense is good enough when he returns to play with Rondo. Hill + Jrue might be enough to help hide Rondo more on defense.
