About equal to the John Salmons signing last year
Posted on 7/10/15 at 11:16 am to TigerTatorTots
No, it's not even close to the Salmons signing.
Gee is not old as hell and will be good in Gentrys system while being able to play good D.....

Did anyone else used to use Hoopshype for quick player breakdowns? On each player's page they had a quick run down of their game, their strengths and weaknesses.
They got rid of that on their latest update. That sucks.

I agree. I would compare this more to the Cunningham signing if I had to compare it to someone from last year

Not even close
Salmons was washed up and played a decent sized role(but DID get us cole)
Gee is much younger and will actually contribute when he gets minutes(there won't be much granted)
Gee is the 12th best player on this team while salmons was what 8th?

Forgot to mention that Gee is a VERY good athlete and can finish on the break.
We kinda lack that

If he plays a lot, something bad happened. But I think he helps as much if not more in practice than anywhere else. He can make Evans better everyday and that is more valuable than anything he can contribute on the court

Gee is essentially a vet version of KJ McDaniels. So you get what he would bring without the learning curve. I like it
yup basically the same player athletically

I don't mind Gee as a player, I really don't, especially as a 10th-12th man. And I get, for the most part, our current cap situation. Here are my thoughts/questions, and maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong, or easy my concerns.
-I don't care for offering him slightly above the minimum thus dipping into the MLE, to sign him. Seems like there are still some similar players that maybe can be had for the minimum, or slightly better players that could maybe could be had for the rest of the MLE. Some players that come to mind, (and I won't even mention KJ since I'm not as crazy about him as others): Thornton, Dorrell Wright, Luigi Datome, Mbah a Moute, Barton, Chris Copeland. Some of those can still likely be had for the minimum, so it may be a moot point.
-How much weight does his shooting numbers carry from last year, on such a small sample size?
-I know it wasn't a realistic option this offseason, but I hope next we can make a real attempt to upgrade the SF, whether it be KD or not. I like QP as much as the next guy, but I think we're going to rely on him for too many minutes this year at that spot, along with the combo of DC and now AG.

Some of those guys can be had for the minimum(dell can actually offer them a bit more than it,like 1.7 mil)
Could see a scenario where we grab a guy who wants to play for a year to raise his stock then cash in next summer.
He has the tools to be a solid shooter(I mean his numbers aren't really that bad). If he's at least a competent threat (like 33-35%) then that's completely fine.
Tyreke will probably play some SF so it's not a huge worry.

I would have liked to get Barton.

I don't think we will.
assuming health, minutes will go
AD 36
EG/Reke/Jrue 32 each
Anderson/Asik around 25
QPon around 20
DC/Cole around 15
Ajinca 8
Those numbers add up for a game.
Jrue/EG/Reke/AD/Ryno is the lineup that will close games out and play the most minutes.

Maybe not if they all stay healthy for 82 games, but if we face a stretch of games where QP gets injured we are going to be in bad shape, as we stand now.

If Davis gets, say 38 minutes a game, there would be about 12 minutes left over a game based on these estimates. I think they would want Davis at closer to 35.

I don't think so
DC/Gee are competent enough to pick up the slack and Tyreke could just play more SF.
I mean it's certainly better than where we started last year.

Hated that guy so much when he was at Alabama along with Jermarreo Davidson.

Agree with this. But as whole, and I do respect your opinion, I'll agree to disagree. For a team looking to make it out of the 1st round in the West, that position as a whole is pretty weak. Again, I understand our options are very limited this offseason, but it still sucks to face the same deficit year after year at at 3.
