This is the struggle for a GM at the end of free agency-

Do you get the better player who demands playing time or the lesser player who won't cause a stir if he doesn't get it?

The Pels simply can't promise playing time right now, while other teams can offer the same money and either PT or a chance at a title.

People often want to get the best player available at the 13-15 spots, but that could cause problems. In reality, you should probably take a lesser player who isn't demanding PT, but will be ready if he is called upon

100% agree. You want the guys who will take whatever role it is that puts the team in the best position to win. Not someone who thinks they deserve minutes over the guy ahead of them. Attitude towards the team and themselves is the most important quality in any end of bench team. And shooting and hustle

Oh trust. I like Frazier and glad they are bringing him back.

I'm just curious about rotation and depth.

Wih Tyreke out where does the bench scoring come from? With hield in yr 1, asik, and hill in the starting lineup that's not much offense either.

You gotta hope the sum is greater than its parts. Again, who had a good offensive year other than Lillard, going into Portlands season last year?

Just gotta hope guys step up with a bigger role, better pace, and confidence from their coaching staff

If Frazier is in the rotation, he can create shots. I think for that reason alone, he will be in the rotation. Not much creation coming from wings on this roster.

I think its insurance better than picking guys up off the street mid season.

Excellent move. Looks like I'll be catching some Pels games this year

Yeah the defense will be better but Offense is going to rely much more on system than individuals.

Highly doubtful. This will be his 3rd year in the league, though he was in Vegas sitting next to Lillard at one of the games.

Portland's offense pretty much ran thru Lillard and CJ so I think that's what will happen here with AD and Holiday taking the vast majority of shots

Last year:
Lillard/McCollum combined for 37.6 attempts a game
AD/Jrue combined for 33.0 attempts a game

Yep, with competent shooters around that will allow them far more space than when they had Gee, DC, Cole, etc around them next year

But yes, AD and Jrue will need to put up 45 or so per game for this team to win more games than it loses. 12-13 from Buddy and a bunch of guys averaging 7-10 and you got enough points to be a better than average offense

Another solid signing. This has been the best offseason we've had in a while. Now we need all these guys to live up to their potential.

I doubt it but boy could we use it. More like Hield could really use it. I am still struggling with the fact that our PG's combined for 2 assists.

I went from being really excited for summer league to dreading my inevitable frustration that will come.

Rivers got 3/35
Augustin 4/29
Bayless 3/27
Ish 3/18

This was the market for backup PGs early in the summer. Heck, even Seth Curry got more than Frazier.

Jrue/Frazier/Reke
Moore/Hield/Galloway
Hill/Qpon
AD/DC/Babbit
Asik/AA/Diallo

So we have one spot if we decline Douglas and Reke stays put. Are we looking at Gee (or similar wing) or another front court player?

I would probably add Gee and a PF to that group that can rebound at a high rate while subtracting Babbitt.

One thing they can do with the rest of their room money is sign a guy who has zero or 1 year experience for a little more than their minimum. So, if they like a foreign guy or a guy from SL that fits those qualifications, they can add them. Heck, a guy like Patric Young

Or they can just use minimum slots to bring in a vet. I think Gee fits because he is so close with AD. A guy like Willie Reed or Thomas Robinson would be ideal to fit the rebounding PF spot, but it will be hard to get them for the min

Based on the stories swirling about Robinson and his ego, I am not sure I would want him here.

We seem to be going hard on the whole SA model of building a blue collar hard work culture without a sense of entitlement.

Willie Reed would be interesting though. Hadn't even thought about him.
