I've never understood why the NBA doesn't have a short term and long term DL that free roster spots. I'm sure there's a reason I just don't know what it is

Bossier is the only correct spot.

I don't understand the Bossier city love. One franchise is closer, Dallas, and another is only 50 miles further than New Orleans, Oklahoma City. Expanding around the gulf coast makes way more sense

I think Jackson makes a lot of sense. They are more centrally located on the map of other D-league cities. It would also expand the Pelicans brand into MS.

Covington would never be considered. Stop shoe-horning your hatred of Brister when she has nothing to do with this.

I wasn't the one who suggested Covington. In fact I was pretty clear that I did not see it as even being an option.

And I don't hate Pat Brister. I actually like her as a person. I'd be surprised if she isn't indicted at some point in the next decade, but that doesn't mean I dislike her.

It's not even relevant because Covington isn't even a realistic option.

please come to CenLA... please

the Coliseum would be great... esp. since it isn't a shared facility... the team would be the only full-time tenant

and as someone who already works in sports and done work for basketball inside the Coliseum... I would immediately apply for some kind of job if the team came to Alexandria

What about Montreal or Raleigh-Durham?

No, McNeese is currently in the making of a brand new basketball arena on campus, Lake Charles also has the Civic Center downtown, and The Burton Which McNeese already plays. There is options here in LC

If they come to Lake Charles I will personally purchase season tickets the day they go on sale

Depends on Benson's motivation in forming a team. I'd have to think it's trying to tap into a relatively close market to try and spur interest in the parent club hoping that it could result in ticket sales for the Pels. I think that's the only reason why you have St. Tammany on the list. My guess is that Biloxi, Mobile and Lafayette are the front-runners.

Yeah, they have a huge hole in the southeast now, but I looked a little further down that map page I linked to and saw this:

quote:

2017-18: Orlando Magic purchased Erie BayHawks, intend to rename and relocate team to Lakeland, Fla.
2017-18: Atlanta Hawks’ expansion team to begin play as Erie BayHawks
2017-18: Memphis Grizzlies’ expansion team to begin play in Southaven, Miss.
2017-18: Milwaukee Bucks’ expansion team to begin play in Oshkosh, Wisc.
2017-18: Minnesota Timberwolves intend to purchase Iowa Energy
2019-20: Atlanta Hawks affiliate will relocate to College Park, Ga.

So Memphis covers North Mississippi, the Hawks affiliate will be in Atlanta, and the Magic affiliate will be in the Tampa area. Biloxi/Pensacola/Mobile make the most sense in coordinating with those 3.

I'm thinking Shreveport/Bossier City might get it. They've already been playing Pelicans pre-season games here and the arena is pretty new/nice.

I do believe somewhere along the gulf coast would be the best fit though.

I agree, but I'd much rather see Mobile or Pensacola over Biloxi/Gulfport.

I would imagine Baton Rouge wouldn't make much sense.
