The Pelicans have signed free agent forward Dante Cunningham. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

He will be available tonight according to the Pelicans' PR account.

You make Jokes but Austin Rivers is no longer our best bench player (not counting Ryno of course). This sadly could be a pretty significant signing.

Hearing Pelicans are getting Dante Cunningham on a one-year minimum deal. Good bargain potential

Pelicans just announced they have signed forward Dante Cunningham. He is working with the team right now at their shootaround in San Fran.

ATL what are your thoughts on the Anderson-Davis-Asik starting forward combo we rolled out with for a little while last game?

I thought it didn't look half bad

But they require so many minutes that we play them together at times.

I had the game on in the background when they were in so I didn't get to see it in action, but it seems like people liked what they saw. However, the last time we saw it vs. Sacramento, it looked like a terrible idea to have AD chasing Omri Casspi around, ineffectively expending a bunch of energy and picking up potential fouls.

I think it depends on the matchup. If the SF is a floor spacer (what you'd think Casspi would have been), or would be ADs assignment anyway (Durant) I'm ok with it, if the SF is mobile I don't think it's a good idea.

Not bad. Anything to strengthen the bench.

He can defend SFs. I'm kind of curious to see if he can do the offense/defense role reversal with Ryno that we had hoped Aminu and Anderson could do. Unlike Aminu you can't ignore Cunningham on defense.

At least he's a legit bench player. I like the signing because it looks like it'll take minutes away from our terrible bigs (Withey and Ajinca) who I'm not even sure are NBA players. He can probably log some minutes at SF, too.

not NBA players:

-withey
-ajinca
-salmons
-fredette
-miller (gone)

that kind of dead weight cripples this team

on top of his defense he's also got a really good mid range shot and can provide a little bit of offense off the bench too
