I really don't think Jrue is part of the plan anymore if we get PG-13.

Yeah that was my assumption as well. That post was really for those people who were listing out a lineup of Jrue/PG/Davis/Boogie

Hell, I mean you might as well make it:

CP3/Jrue/PG/Davis/Boogie

do we have any shot here or is this all speculation and hoping?

There are zero rumors out there about us being in the mix. But it's not out of the question that we could hypothetically offer a bunch of future firsts and put ourselves in the PG sweepstakes. But right now it's all speculation and hoping.

If the good teams like the Cavs aren't interested that's when the window for the Pels to get in the mix opens because teams viewing it as a rental will pay a lot less. But if that window opens up for the Pels the Lakers have the assets to shut it down at any time if they view the Pels as a threat to Paul George's free agency.

I'd put my money on Houston and Morey's "upped risk portfolio"

They are the major threat I see.

Let them. Make them spend as much as possible to get him if he's coming to the Western Conference.

Don't let them get him via free agency when we could make them use assets that would damage their chances of becoming an immediate contender with PG13.

Don't we though? The Cavs don't have any draft picks and would have to find a third team. The Pacers are rumored to have zero interest in Love.

Love has value whether it is to the Pacers or not. The Cavs could get a nice haul for Love and move those assets to the Pacers if they do not want Love.

On its face, that's true. However, I would think it would depend on the haul. If the Cavs can create a massive trade exception with picks only and flip those picks using the same exception to get George, sure.

I don't see a lot of teams banging down the door for him at his contract right now. At least, not teams that are in "contention". Those teams either don't have the cap space or the picks to separate themselves.

You'd have to send Love to a team that is rebuilding and I'm not sure there are teams out there that want to pay that salary for him. Maybe I'm wrong, but I really think Cleveland is severely limited here.

Oh, and couple all of the above with their (Minnesota's) reported interested in Iguodala and now they are getting max ROI for Rubio.

They also are looking into Jimmy Butler.

Sources: Chicago’s price for Jimmy Butler remains elevated, but Minnesota has assets and interest. Sides made preliminary contact this week.

It's hard to say whether something like this is real interest or Chicago prodding Boston. But if Butler goes to Minnesota that could take him off the table when he's a FA in a few years making taking a shot at PG-13 now make more sense.

The Cavaliers, per league sources, have been working today on assembling multi-team trade scenarios to try to acquire Chicago's Jimmy Butler

Cavs going after Butler too or is it more Chicago propaganda? 2 leaks benefitting Chicago in the span of 10 minutes, I'd say Chicago's psyops department is getting sloppy.

Pacers rumored to have had interest in Jrue and Gallinari prior to the PG news. Wonder if they still do?

They wanted to compete around George. I think the game plan is shifting, especially if they said no to Kevin Love.

According to Brian Windhorst, Cleveland's GM was very close to trading Love to Phoenix for the #4 pick which he would flip for Paul George or Butler. It's unclear if that's still going to happen now that Griffin has been officially let go by the Cavs.

Can't believe Phoenix would part with #4 for Love. There's always a team out there that bails out the elite teams when the elite teams seem to have no way to make such a trade.
