Sources: Indiana has waived center Kevin Seraphin, who had guarantee date on the upcoming season of his deal.

Seraphin was set to make $1.9 million. Not a good sign for the Ajinca dump market.

Babbitt agreed for 1 year deal with Atlanta.
1,9 millions (minimum).

Was thinking he was a possibility for Pels depending on what happens with Cunningham.

IMO Dante has agreed a deal with Pels. Just waiting for salary dump...

The Pels took a chance on him when no other team would touch him, he likes living in Louisiana, and he's a favorite of the coaches. I don't think there was ever much doubt he was coming back.

Also as MM noted - probably no one is willing to pay him even declined amount...

I expect that in the same moment we will hear about salary dump and Dante will be announced...

Yeah, I was expecting that we would ship QPon and cash somewhere and sign Cunningham for about $3,000,000 or so. Alternatively, if they can work a buyout for Asik and stretch him, we can sign Cunningham into that slot.

The idea is that QPon could contribute so we may end up sending out Ajinca and cash instead or buy him out.

Stretching Ajinca is another possibility that would cost us about $1.6m a year for 3 years but give us about $3.2m in cap space to pay DC.

He's owed $10.2 this year and next, it'd be about $2 million for 5 years.

We fricking wish. Dell was handing out multiyear deals like they were going out of style (which they were)

in the long run it made sense if the cap was spiking like mad, but it slowed down and it bit him in the arse severely.

but like many here, I'd still have only given asik a 3yr deal paying slightly more annually. (history of back problems for big men = one injury and its over)

Ajinca isn't a problem. He's not unplayable like Asik. Is he worth $5M, no, but he's not hurting us nearly as much as Asik, and he is literally the only backup big we have. We can't get rid of him just to sign Cunningham, or another guard. You get rid of Ajinca and you have to bring in another big.

Are you sure?
I thought it was 3.2M over 7.
2M for 5 is much better

IIRC its guaranteed salary remaining divided by years remaining x2 + 1. I think you're mixing up Ajinca and Asik's #s

Asik has ~25mil and 3 years remaining goes to 3.57mil per year for 7 years

Ajinca has ~10.25mil and 2 years remaining goes to 2.05mil per year for 5 years

Assuming Cousins and AD play about 70 total minutes, you'd still need 26 minutes of "bigs". Last year, Solo played about 4MPG as a PF and Cunningham played about 19.5MPG as a PF.

I think Ajinca is replaceable if Diallo can contribute this year, but if we're not in the luxury tax or need the space, keeping Ajinca/Asik for possible filler $ later on in the season would be a better bet. Their value is already low, can't get any worse, maybe create some value if they can perform decently at times.

And assuming we keep: Holiday, Davis, Cousins, Rondo, Solo...you'd only have 19.5mil in $ to send out not including Asik or Ajinca. Now if its a trade of Holiday for a wing, more than likely we won't need it but I'm almost positive those 5 are not going to be touched.

Report: UFA SF-PF Dante Cunningham in the mix for minimum deal with #Timberwolves.

This guy isn't verified and only has 1700 followers, so take it with a grain of salt. If it's true I'm guessing this means the Pels are trying to bring him back on a pay cut, possibly low enough salary that they don't have to dump anyone else. Minny would certainly be a threat to take Cunningham, especially if he feels wronged by a low ball offer now that the market's dried up. However, this also could just be posturing. Getting Dante back for the minimum or just above it would mean this offseason went about as well as possible other than the Jrue overpay.

There have been reports that Minny was interested in Cunningham, but that he wasn't willing to discuss a min deal yet. This might be a shot across the bow from his agent.

Would be fantastic for the Pels if CD gets the available remaining big minutes. Especially if he scores and rebounds.
