IF that is true I would have melted like a motherfricker.

There is no IF here--/ I know you guys don't like me but I can guarantee you it's 100% fact
I was blown away too. Got this info about four hours ago and am still trying to process it. I am so thankful for Vivek because this is the deal we make if the Kings don't give us Boogie
Seriously, I wouldn't have even said 'I told you so' if the Dwight deal went down. I would have just sulked through a whole pod and thrown up my hands on this shite show

meanwhile it looks like the hawks, a playoff team, are shaking up the front office.

Current managements plan is to dump Dwight and overpay Milsap and Hardaway if they stay. If I was the owner, and they told me that was their plan, I'd probably fire them too
Posted on 5/3/17 at 6:51 pm to Crewz
It's not a bad idea if the price for those two are reasonable.
Millsap was arguably the biggest reason for their success this year. He's still talented even tho he's aging
Hardaway is a young piece that can do a lot of things well. Has good size and can shoot. He's not elite but he'd be a quality starter on most playoff teams.
If a team is telling me I can dump Howard and upgrade, I'm gonna do it.

Wow. All I can say is wow. I took back all the bad things I had said about Dell, after he pulled off the Boogie trade. After learning this, I take back my taking back all those bad things. Were Loomis and Ferry really going to sit back and watch Dell throw away our future, in one stupid trade?
That trade is awful. I would've probably quit following the team if they had made that trade. That would've erased any shred of hope we have in the AD era. Dell should be fired for even considering such a ridiculous offer.

I am terrified that Dell would have rather use first rounder to dump Asik then stretch him...

Do you know what Dell's thought process was here other than AD didn't want to play C?
I mean he traded a 1st for Asik, painted himself into a corner with his agent and overpaid him to now sit on the bench in Gentry's offense. And he learned nothing from that experience?
I'm flabbergasted, but not totally surprised that he was going to give up that much for another C who doesn't fit his coach's system.

AD REALLY not wanting to play center seems to be the driving force in some of this regimes worst and potentially worst plans. Demps has been trying to undo the collateral damage from acquiring Tyreke for 4 years and the only reason it still isn't haunting us is he got lucky. God Bless You Vivek Ranidive, you're a wonderful person.
The scary thing is that whenever Demps has had big decisions to make he's almost always chosen poorly. After learning about this I'm expecting him to pay more for Lin than someone else ends up doing for Bledsoe or Rubio. Milos Theodosic wants to start, if the Nets have any hope of landing a guy they've been targeting for a while, they HAVE to move Lin. Not to mention what you've been talking about as a downside to Lin, trading for a player that will have leverage on the Pels for a big contract. Lin shouldn't be expensive to acquire unless you make him expensive.

Seems rather odd you'd take it that hard considering you're not a Pelicans fan. As a journalist, you'd think you'd be happy there would be a huge topic to talk about, not sulk about it as if you were an actual fan of the team and upset at the move.
That move does seem rather dumb, but i'd like to know what the protections were on the picks, if any.

Why is MM considered trustworthy now?

Top 3 BOTH years.
And no, I wouldn't sulk because the Pels wouldn't be great. It would be because I wouldn't have an excuse to do the pod with Ryan anymore. It would have been pointless moving forward. Potential for really good is fun, potentially for really bad is fun. Mediocre for the foreseeable future is boring

Unfortunately, it's not happening

This is disappointing. I'm watching the AD era slowly wisp away for my Pels with nothing to show for it.

Truth is that we've learned that Mickey doesn't care about producing a winner, and Benson is cares more about making money with the team than anything else.
This reminds me a ton of the LSU/Miles situation. He was winning games here and there, and LSU fans were pouring money into the system. Until it became financially a loss, they weren't going to let Miles go.
Same thing here with Demps and Gentry. They don't care if the team sucks or is mediocre, it is still making money because people will still go to watch games. Even worse, they know NOLA draws a lot of away team fans to the games when their teams are there, so they will get their money.
Horrible decisions have been Demps' calling card. When he was making tweaks to an already solid roster, he did fine. When it came to actually building a team and despite having his shitty deal bailed out with the CP3 deal, he's failed miserably when it has actually been anything but a given move (drafting/extending AD).

This is nothing like the Miles situation. Miles actually won more than LSU does historically. It also never became a financial loss. When he was fired, the football program was still a top earner in the NCAA.
