I remember watching Gentry coach the Suns recently. I laughed and said at least he isn't our coach.

didn't he take over after dantoni was let go? I'm sure the Suns were still a pretty good offense when he took over. how can u not take his record into consideration? Why not just hire dantoni?

So you're saying he learned all of these things between 2013 and now? If not, why didn't he apply any of this stuff to the Suns between 2009-2013, where he had only one winning season before being fired?

ETA: Since I just dumped $4K on tickets, I sure hope you're right and he's just a late bloomer...

There are posts on the board in other threads that will explain these things to you if you only take the time, grasshopper.

I can get behind this move.

Can't wait to see what his staff will look like.

And wonder what this means for Asik.

Little late to the party, but I am pretty content with Gentry as our coach. He was my number 2 behind JVG with Thibs being my number 3. I just think he will do really great things with our offense, but I do hope we get a quality defensive minded assistant because that is the side of the ball we really need to improve on.

Where were these people last month when we blew a 20 point 4th quarter lead in the playoffs?

Iggy is nothing like Tyreke. Tyreke fits a ball movement offense like a square peg jammed in a round hole.

Tyreke has never been put into a ball movement offense for one thing so you don't know how he will handle it. He may crash and burn and his trade value may never be higher than it is right now, or he could thrive in a system that encourages him to use his athleticism and unique footwork in the open court where he was successful before. It's harder to hide him in the half court but I'm sure Gentry has accumulated some tricks over the years.

And tyreke and Iggy have very similar offensive styles, they are both very good facilitating wings with weak outside shots and an ability to finish at the rim.

Damn, just got back from the baseball game pumped up. Completely forgot about this.

I guess I never gave my opinion before, but I think we could have done better. That being said, I'm not gonna write the guy off before he's coached a game here. I was just really excited about JVG

I love how stupid some people are on this board... exactly type of coach dell was going after this whole time.... fast pace to fit the roster.. no matter who we hired some people will always bitch and complain.... think it's a solid fit

Would have preferred Thibs or JVG, but no Brooks, Avery, or Jackson so I'm good.

Pels gonna score some points...
