Yeah why have a 2nd round pick at all. No one ever amounted to anything coming out of the second round.
We've had like 3 picks in the last 10 years in the 2nd round.
If you don't have a pick, you have ZERO chance at finding a diamond in the rough, and there are diamonds.

I guess the bucks are just wasting time dealing with senior from Virginia Malcolm Brogdon that they took in the 2nd round, who will be rookie of the year.

and no one on this earth knows if your first round pick is going to bust or not. If he isnt' Lebron fricking James, you have no clue what he'll be.
The late 1st early 2nd round is where those seniors that aren't as athletic get picked. some work out, some don't. If you don't have a pick, then they will never work out.

Not to mention we are in a day and age where you would happily play two SF's at the same time if you had two who were worth a darn.

It is so perplexing to me how this franchise has literally never found a good SF.

I never said we shouldn't have a second round pick. If you draft a SF with your first pick, you should draft another team need with the second pick

Embiid isn't a rookie. i don't care what anyone says. he was drafted almost 3 years ago. And he's missed almost half their games this year. Yeah he's much better than Brogdon. But Brogdon is an actual rookie, and hasn't missed 20+ games already, with more to come.

This isnt' the NFL draft. You don't draft on team need, especially in the 2nd round. You draft who you think might be able to make the roster in the second round, who has the most potential, since the vast majority of them will never set foot on an NBA court.

Embiid is 100% a rookie And that is arrogant to say he doesn't deserve the rookie of year award.

if you draft a SF who you think is going to be a star in the first round you should not draft another SF in the second round.

If a team like the Pels has two 2nd round picks and zero decent active small forwards, it would not be a bad idea to pick another SF off of either potential or JR/SR NBA readiness in the second round

i'm only saying not to draft a SF in the second round if we have already drafted one in the first round.

i understand exactly what you are saying, but I disagree, I would be perfectly happy with drafting two SFs and a project center/PG/SG this year

b/c it's all a crap shoot. you draft whoever you think might make it in the NBA, not what you need.

I disagree wholeheartedly. In the 2nd round you take the prospect that you think has the best chance to develop into a good player. Chasing need rarely works in the 1st round. Chasing it in the 2nd is a bad idea. Of course if you have two prospects that you believe in and one is a position need then you choose that one.

There are 32 teams.

Back in the day there were 8 teams. Even then a first round pick busted. If you are talking 2nd round now, you are looking at the (apparent) 50th or 70th best.

I remember being excited when philadelphia picked 6 5" jump shooter who led UNC to 3OT win over Wilt's Kansas in natty. First round selection. The jump shooter could not defend and was cut in mid season of season 1.

I really think Dennis Smith will be a bust. 4 points at half against a pretty bad team and his team is getting ran out the gym. This has been the same story all season. He may be talented but it doesn't translate into team wins. I'd stay far away from this dude. Give me somebody from a winning team and a decent program.

So you wouldn't want Ben Simmons or Markelle Fultz?
