ATL, we're gonna need another salary cap update and 2017/2018 FA update/plan after today. Just saying.

The interesting thing about this is Demps is giving up all of his insurance money this year. I'm sure the ticket sales help a lot. Cousins changes the math on everything for the Pels.
Is the insurance money not collected prorate or is it all or nothing at the end of the season?

Insurance benefits that have accrued (Reke's) stay with the team I was told.

To answer your an NOSHAU's similar question, according to Larry Coon

quote:

If the player is traded, his new team receives the benefit -- for example, even though Cuttino Mobley's heart condition was discovered prior to his trade to the Knicks, the Knicks received the insurance payout.

If you heard otherwise either Larry Coon is wrong, which is possible, or perhaps they were referring to last year's insurance money for Tyreke? He and QPon both would have earned some last year too.

@WojVerticalNBA: Update on Boston, Indy: Boston hasn't met Indiana's asking price on Paul George, but Nets pick has entered conversation now, sources say.

Not much less than we gave up for Boogie (who may not be making much more than Noel next season).

That's going forward. With Cuttino, the Knicks knew he had an irregular heartbeat but in the trade from the Clippers, an MRI revealed a worse condition. The condition was discovered before the trade went through.

From what I understand and was told by someone who is pretty familiar with this stuff, Tyreke's insurance already accrued this year (paid out) and so if the team moves that money with him it would be treated just like cash considerations.

Noel to Mavs for Anderson, Bogut and top-18 protected 1st. Steal for Dallas.

Curious what the protection is next year as there's no way that conveys this year.

Huh, we gave up much more, understandably

I didn't know about the protection at the time. And Anderson looks like a solid prospect.
