Noel was atop our Top 100 rankings from our first one on June 29 until he went down with a torn ACL in February. Since that time we've been reluctant to keep him at No. 1 until NBA doctors have a chance to look at his MRIs. But the truth is that Noel might be the big draft winner of NCAA tournament so far. While most of the other top prospects have stumbled -- some mightily -- multiple NBA scouts and GMs remember Noel's increasing productivity at Kentucky and say, essentially, if every player in the draft this year is going to be a major risk, why not gamble with the ultra-athletic big man and hope his knee and his offensive game both get better?

While it's hard to describe Noel as a consensus No. 1, after a weekend of talking to NBA decision-makers, it sounds like most of them are now leaning that direction. Of course their doctors could talk them out of it, but assuming the surgery went well and the knee is rehabbing properly, Noel's chances of going No. 1 have gone up considerably the past few weeks.

That's the biggest issue. Hell, at this point, Cromer and McGary are #1 and #2 on my big board.

the only reason he is number one because all the player in the tourney have sucked. If he was playing and in the tourney he would have dropped too.

Not a hijack at all. I think one question is would they draft Burke? If Rivers isn't ready to start can you develop Rivers and Burke at the same time? I know you go BPA, but that has to be a consideration, the team can't have another losing season.

completely agree Burke and Zeller are the surest players in the draft and by that I mean they are incredibly consistant and you know exactly what you are going to get not a huge downside but neither have a huge upside which is why they are not top 10

Speaking on Nerlens Noel though...for a majority of the year he was the #1 guy then slipped behind McLemore then got hurt it would have been really interesting to me to see how Noel and CJ Mccollum would have ended up on the big board if each would have played the full season because damn if Burke didnt fly up the ladder with his play this year

Michael McNamara has already said there is 0% chance we take Burke or Bennett.

I've enjoyed listening to his Hornets247 podcasts this year he's very insightful but until he sits next to Monty in the film room and on draft night...that post will mean something

Pretty sure that's what it was the last time I played with it, but since we moved up in the standings I guess its more likely that we get Bennett or Shabazz now

Noel is the BPA in this draft

So if Dell is going BPA, it should be Noel

He has the potential to be a monster in the NBA

But honestly I don't care who we take as long as it isn't Shabazz

Best default NFL player (when no one seperates themselves) is the QB with the great numbers and biggest arm. A la Ryan Leaf and Tim Couch.

Best default MLB player (when no one seperates themselves) is the Pitcher who can throw the hardest.

Best default NBA player (when no one seperates themselves) is the most athletic tall guy. Neol fits that bill, so he's the BPA.

Lets face it, there is no phenominal scorer in this draft. (No Rose/No Durant) No super athlete in this draft. (No Tyrus Thomas/No AD) So, go with the big who is the most athletic.
