Memphis, Tenn. -- New Orleans Hornets Coach Monty Williams wasn’t pleased after Friday night’s loss to the Houston Rockets and he threatened Sunday to sit some players if they don't improve defensively.
The Hornets' transition defense flaws were exposed by the Rockets, who had a 20-9 edge in fastbreak points during their 100-82 victory. The Hornets' last four opponents have scored at least 100 points.
Seeking improvement, the Hornets play the Memphis Grizzlies Sunday, another team that likes to push the tempo with point guards Mike Conley and Jerryd Bayless.
``We’re certainly not going to watch guys play on the floor and allow transition baskets,’’ Williams said.``Transition defense is a fundamental and usually is not something you have to teach at this point of the season.’'
