I did notice this when I went to see Cousins in Portland. More often on offense he was last back. He plays at his own pace and showed no urgency to get into an offensive set. for better or worse, that's who you're stuck with.

That post was mostly for those who don't know. MM only 'liked' the team when they were good/winning.

I'm glad he has you to cover his six.

He is not built for a fast paced offense. He also is not used to the pace that Gentry wants to push. The offense has to be adjusted to the players we have acquired. He also tends to take on too much himself on the offensive end with the ball handling. I think that comes from what he had to do with the Kings.

After listening to the podcast I feel you are being too hard on Cousins. I agree that the complaining and hustle is tiresome, but if I were in his position I would be similarly incredulous at how I am officiated. The same touch fouls he is often assessed he never gets on the other end. The conditioning is clearly off and needs to change for this to work. I also think that saying we aren't winning because of Cousins as an indictment of Cousins is disingenuous. From the start it wasn't going to be a clean fit like Durant to GS, it's much more LeBron and Wade. Unfortunately we have much less time and practice then they did, aren't as talented as they were, and can't take our time working out kinks to make a playoff push. As a result like you said Cousins has had his role reduced and is struggling. What I don't understand is how this is an indictment of Cousins as a good stats bad team guy who doesn't help you win. The advanced stats didn't bear that out in Sacramento and the reasons for his current struggles are clear.

once again, he's sorta right but he's such a douche it negates everything.

Cousins is hurt and he's out of shape for a fast paced offense, but regardless he is often last up the court, often times because he's bitching to the refs, often understandably, about fouls that didn't get called.

also, he does dribble too much, especially into traffic. he turns the ball over more than he should because he's trying to dribble entirely too much. i can't say i watched him that much in Sacramento, so i can't say if this is just his game or if it's something that's started once he got here.

however, some know-nothing dude on a podcast that sounds like it was recorded on Macauley Culkin's talkboy really shouldn't be calling one of the 15 best players in the NBA a fatass.

MM is truly the worst kind of fanalyst. Constantly and desperately seeking approval from the zach lowe's of twitter, nauseating non-stop pushing of left wing agenda, brags about "business decision" of buying bulls tickets for re-sale only in turn to see them tank on him. Come down about six high horses and you could pass as tolerable

Jesus, does this clown remember Shaq with the Lakers? Big guys are lumbering and are usually the last guys down the court. But him in a slower pace offense, and you would hardly notice.

If you guys like him, AWESOME -- good for you. You guys both say I am an idiot whose opinion is a joke and then get upset when I don't like the guy you want me to like. If I am such an idiot, why does it matter??

I like high IQ guys. I like guys who know what they are good at, and more importantly, what they are not good at. I like guys who hustle. Cousins does not check any of those three boxes for me.

But I am not trying to make you guys all hate him. I don't care. I am not a fan of his and see how much better this team looks when he is off the court and I don't think that will change much because he has low self awareness, effort and IQ.

But that's my opinion, which you guys don't value anyway. So why do you care??

I think a big part of it is us as fans embracing the team we have and hoping for the best. Cousins has been discussed for a potential pairing with AD for years and the response has been mostly neutral to negative. I'd put multi-year pre trade numbers at about 30% excited at the prospect of AD/DC, 30% willing to accept it as the most likely way to get a discounted injection of talent that could keep Davis in NOLA long term, and 40% very much against it.

The post trade instant acceptance of Cousins is pretty surprising, but I think the low acquisition cost has played a role in that. The lower the cost the more risk people are willing to take on.

I am curious to see if AD/DC can work on defense. I believe it was the Houston game where I saw for the first and only time the Twin Towers working like you'd want on defense. There were several possessions where one or both together kept rim drives out of the paint and it seemed pretty intimidating. Like if you get past one tower the other will be right there to swat your shot. I haven't seen them work like that for more than one play at a time in any other game though. They'll have to figure out how to make that work to not have to resort to Small Ball in crunch time.

Wait so this dude isn't even from NOLA? What's his obsession with the Pels then? That's weird. If he's for relocation - here's a big FU.

He was a fan of them back when they were in Charlotte. When he was a kid Alonzo Mourning was a dick to him when he asked for an autograph. He's been repeating the pattern of seeking abuse from this franchise ever since.

I think it can work if Cousins accepts some hard realities about his game. If he becomes self aware enough to know that a C+ option (him driving from the arc) might have been the best option for the team in Sacto but that will never be the best option here. Ever. So he shouldn't do it

I personally don't think he will acquire this self awareness but I hope to be wrong

what's interesting about this is that is the same conversation people were having about Gordon, Evans, and Holiday fitting together 4 years ago.

injuries derailed any real chance of them working it out. same time, it's hard to change learned behavior years into a career, especially when you have been successful (at least individually) playing a certain way.

that's just going to be very hard when you start to think about playoff crunch time matchups. basically everyone outside of LAC and Memphis will play a wing at the 4. is having Davis guard Ryan Anderson 27 feet from the rim really the way to go for the Pels? conversely, what team wouldn't want to play 4 on 4 w/ Davis out of the picture?

What do you think of him playing a role similar to Nurkic in Portland right now? If he could do something like that he'd beast IMO
