If we work under the cap it's a concern. He should opt out even if it's to get the same money for more years. But we gave him a chance when nobody else would touch him and he's an avid outdoorsman and likes living here.

I think that's being a bit optimistic. There's going to be a ton of cap space out there and he's playing really well. He's not a good athlete and doesn't have any potential to drastically improve, so that will affect how much he can get, but he's been really impressive to me. It feels like whenever the role players on this team are struggling, DC will still hit a few corner 3's and fight for some offensive boards that keep us in games. I'm thinking he'll get an Ajinca type contract (~$17m over 4 seasons).

ETA: I think you misinterpreted what I meant. I meant 7 or 8 mil per season, over 2 or 3 years. like 2 years/16 mil or 3 years/21 mil.
