Absolutely love the dude. When he's hot, he's hot. when he's not, he's not. Hopefully he can get more consistent and be on the floor giving the Hornets performances like this one.

Some of the analysis I've read says he's just not good at individual defense and we often switch to zone when Thornton comes in. I'm not much for breaking down tape so I don't know how true that is, but one of the primary complaints about Belinelli is his lack of rebounding. Belinelli gives you better defense but Thornton gives you slashing and rebounding. I like Belinelli but I hope he's out a few games because I'd really like Monty to see if more scoring and rebounding is enough to offset poorer defense.

Around the end of the game I think he had 4 straight defense rebounds

That's one of the things I like about him, he's not scared to get in there and mix it up with the bigs or drive to the basket on anyone.

From what I could tell he played some damn good defense on JJ last night. I know he isn't a top tier SG, but he was playing over some pretty damn good players on Orlando's bench.

They don't switch to zone with him in the game, and his "bad defense" is ridiculously overrated on this board. He's not a good defender, but he's not terrible. When 1 on 1, he usually bites too hard towards the basket giving the opposition an open jumpshot, but thats his biggest defensive problem. Other than that he is a good scorer and good rebounder.

agreed... He can stick a player who likes to drive to the goal, but has trouble on shooters. Problem with that is he is a shooting guard so he usally sticks good shooters, so it could be true if they go into zone with him on.

Thornton is terrible defender who fails to rotate. With that said, if he can stay consistent on the offensive end, he needs to play 30+ minutes a night. We need that wing scorer more desprately then we need an average defender at the 2 (Belinelli). Besides...CP, Mek, Ariza, and even DWest are all playing well on D, and they can cover for him a little...

I wouldn't go quite that far because he does occasionally make some plays on D. But he needs to improve. Good thing is that he can get better if he really decides to work on it.

#Hornets coach Monty Williams said he didn't even plan on playing Marcus Thornton tonight. The Belinelli injury forced him to.

It's really weird. Marcus looks exactly like a black version of one of my best friends from growing up. Said friend has very racist parents who named him Jerome for some odd reason. I don't think they liked him.
