The thing about Cal for me is that he might be the only coach we could hire that the whole coaching carousel thing wouldnt negatively effect AD and Boogie for. Like, if we fired Gentry and hired anyone else, those guys would go "frick this a mess" but with Cal that wouldnt even cross their minds and they'd be all "yay, daddys home".

Brad Stephens is a hell of a coach to boot. Calipari would likely fall in that not-good, not-bad 10-23 range. I'm certainly not against this though. Cal would make any departures of Davis/Cousins REALLY difficult. He'd be a huge asset in free agency or the now popular "destination-demand" trades. I will never understand why you're willing to pay someone like Asik 10+ a year, but draw the line at hiring an upper echelon coach.

We don't have the FO to pull this off though. The people above Demps are practically non-existent, and Demps isn't ceding any power to Cal.

Ill take it a step further. HC in the NBA is so underrated. In fact, if they did a league wide franchise redraft there are only like 4 players I take over Brad Stevens.

I agree and get your point, but I would say its more like 15-20 players I would take before Stevens, or any head coach. I do agree, elite head coaches (along with good assistants) can get so much more out of good teams.

Would the Pels be able to sign someone like John Wall to a max contract next season? And then re-sign Boogie afterwards?

No. John Wall has 2 more years on his contract. Washington just offered him one of the new "supermax" extensions but he said he's going to wait and see how things go before signing it. If he signs it you'd probably have to trade for him, something the Pels don't have the assets to do. If he doesn't sign it Washington will probably trade him eventually. Assuming he wanted to come to NOLA, it'd be a situation like Paul George and the Lakers where you'd have to hope where ever he gets traded to doesn't go so well he stays.

Calapari in NO would be interested. You have to have a recruiter and whose better than "The Don".
