how do you fill the starting SG slot?
Ian Clark....hes small, but he can shoot and you would hope having Davis and Cousins behind him would keep the defense afloat
but i wouldnt think of it as SG. it's a wing. if im the Pels, i'm running with this "big" idea. go after as many big wings that fit as you can find...which contradicts Clark, but whatver. obviously these guys will be deeply flawed, but that's where the Pels are.
and i'm not looking to go all in for that one player. they have 2 draft picks from the past 5 years on the roster. they need to scout FA and take flyers on young guys a la Carroll or Bazemore

Idk how much money they would have left after Jrue leaves
If nothing happens besides Holiday leaving, ie no stretching Asik, dumping Ajinca, etc. you'd have about $12.5 million in cap space. Only enough to go after Mills really. That also isn't counting Cook and Toupane, but those 2 are on unguaranteed deals.

i would hope a decent chunk. if they are moving towards Point Boogie, spending there doesnt make a ton of sense.
i like Mills, but i dont think he's worth eating up most of the Pels available cap space this summer

Right but Asik's salary actually seems movable to me (maybe I am just being an optimist). But otherwise, that's why I said Morrow or Meeks seem like more realistic options.
Let's be honest, Dell has already put the 2018 1st round pick with Asik and is shopping it.

Movable, but not dumpable. You can probably turn him and maybe a little sweetener into someone like Crabbe or Bazemore, but you aren't going to turn him into cap space unless you stretch him.

I am confident that if Jrue gets an offer close to what Pels are offering, he gone.
But I wonder how big the gap has to be to stay. I mean, you can't leave 30 mil on the table. Can you leave 20? 10?
It could be interesting if Dell tells him to just re-sign with a promise that he will try to move him and get him somewhere else with all that money in a few months.

I hope to god we don't offer him 30 million.
If those are the offers he is getting, let him walk, bite the bullet in the short term.

No, 30 million total. Like over 4 or 5 years.

once he signs (say 4/90) when is the soonest he could be traded?
at that price, what's the potential return, and likeliest trade partner?

December 15th, the official start of trading season in the NBA when a whole class of newly signed FAs becomes tradeable.

Ya that scenario isn't getting enough attention.
No matter the overpay for Jrue, he is still a top 15 NBA PG probably for the next couple of years and is at least trade-able, or dump-able at the very minimum. It's not the situation with EG where he just didn't become a star even though he got star money or Asik where he just turned into an unplayable guy. Jrue is who he is at this point. So from that perspective, there isn't a ton of risk. (Unless he get's injured)
It's an interesting conversation. What could Jrue Holiday, a 1st, and Diallo get you next season? The season after that ... what could Jrue, Diallo, a rookie, and a 1st get you? Have to imagine that's a package that is at least good enough to be considered by any team looking to trade a disgruntled superstar.
Regardless ... I don't think Jrue gives up the right to make his own decision about where he will play. Doesn't strike me as that type of guy. Then again, 30 million dollars is a lot of money.

No. There is nothing particularly revelatory in Crewz's post nor is there anything about Holiday "using" the Pels.
In fact, it is the opposite if he will indeed turn down more $$ from the Pels
I'm not sure how you aren't going from A to B here. If he uses the Pels offer with no intention of signing to garner larger deals from other teams to make sure to at least close the gap from their offer to ours, he's using the Pels to secure a larger payday from his new team. In no way am I calling him evil for doing so. Yeah, he may not sign here if our offer is the highest. But the teams actually in play for his services might want to make sure that they close the gap enough to not make Jrue turn down $50million.

Touché. I definitely enjoy engaging MM more than snobby MM fwiw. I don't have your connections, so I'll get downvoted no matter what, but I'll offer advice as well...
When you're engaged and civil, this board is actually a much better place. It adds a basketball mind that really only maybe 2 posters in my mind are even in league with (corn and ATL). Add your connections which I firmly believe are the best we have for the Pels, and you can make this place more fun, which honestly is what talking hoops on a message board should be all about. We all love the same team in one way or another or we wouldn't be here.

if the pels punt (or get punted)on holiday...how about CJ Miles?

Much of it has to do with Miles proving himself as an elite shooter last season. Beyond making over 40.0 percent of his 3-point attempts, he ranked in the 97.9 percentile in spot-up shooting with an average of 1.34 points per possession. That put him ahead of a number of sharpshooters such as Stephen Curry (1.33), Kevin Durant (1.26 PPP), Kawhi Leonard (1.24 PPP) and Klay Thompson (1.17). It made up for 32.8 percent of his offense in total and Miles finished in the top 20 in points scored out of spot-up opportunities on the season.
