New Orleans Hornets forward Jason Smith has been ruled out of Tuesday night's exhibition home opener against the Charlotte Bobcats because of back soreness, Coach Monty Williams said following Tuesday morning's shoot-around at New Orleans Arena.

Smith took a hard fall on his back in Sunday's 85-80 exhibition win against the Orlando Magic in Mexico City.

Shooting guard Eric Gordon, who has missed training camp practices with a sore right knee, also will not play against the Bobcats.

"Jason landed on his back and he's a bit sore, so I decided to pull the plug on him," Williams said.

What a pussy. We should trade him as soon as we can. It was a mistake to keep him on the roster.

I guess that is a poke at everybody begging for the team to get rid of Gordon.. I get it.. but you might want to wait for your guy to play more than a couple dozen games to get on your smug high horse..

All that being said, Smith played great again. I don't get why Lopez was handed the starting spot. Smith is a better player and should get a chance to show it..

Yeah, I was very disappointed with Lopez. He made a few good defensive plays but he has to be one of the worst offensive centers in the league. I really hope he gets better as the season progresses but he looks awful.

I don't think he was, preseason with so many new players is for figuring out who will play well together. Jason Smith is a known quantity and is versatile enough to mesh with most of the players on the team. It may take a few preseason games for Monty to realize that Lopez should only start against the Lakers and Sixers.

I thought I read that Monty had guaranteed Lopez the starting spot somewhere, but I'm glad to hear there might still be a competition. Honestly, I believe that Davis will be the Center sooner or later (with Anderson playing PF), but I love Smith's game and hustle. It's good that he might get rewarded for it.

Has anybody talked about how awful Anderson looked? Is there still a thought that he can play SF? I'm sure he will settle in, but I think it might be out of his comfort zone and not a natural fit..

Dude, we get it. Your mom loves EG more than she has ever loved you. Your jealousy and bitterness speak for themselves. Now back to your hole.

I'd be shocked if Monty had guaranteed anyone a starting job. I have seen multiple TP articles where the writers keep calling him the starting center, but I'd be very surprised if he averages starters minutes this season.

Wow, way to get super personal there. But no sir, I'm gonna stick around. I'm not bashing Gordon and haven't in a couple of months. I swear I'm giving him my full support.

I get it. You aren't bashing Gordon. You're just building a case to support your bashing of Gordon. Totally different things.
