I'm going to talk more about it on the pod tomorrow, and play you the clips, but when Gentry and Demps speak it sounds like Holiday is gone

The tweet is from yesterday so if any of you nerds listen, he'll talk about it today

I don't know why Jrue would make the speech at the last home game if he has already decided he's going to leave

He's really reaching IMO, although to be fair to him he does qualify it as conspiracy theory thinking and says he's probably reading to much into it. I talked about this in another thread so I'm going to be lazy and copy what I said there. NSIAP

He thinks Holiday is gone based on 2 things.

1) The Pels aren't willing to throw a max at Holiday initially and rather are willing to "let the process play out".

2) Jake's own personal conclusion is that Holiday WANTS to be the PG and the Pels see him in a more off ball role.

Regarding #1, just because the Pels want Holiday to prove he can get a Max deal doesn't mean they won't match it. I hope they don't go as high as $30 million, but the only thing they really said was they're going to let the market set his price.

As for what Holiday WANTS, the biggest knock on him is his lack of want and being too passive. He also played some of his best ball of the season pre ASB after he stopped worrying about "running the offense" and just focused on "running sets". I think we have no clue what Holiday actually wants and Jake is just projecting what he thinks most pro athletes would want. Holiday is clearly not most pro athletes and has different priorities.

In the end I think it all will come down to money. If Holiday gets offered more than the Pels are willing to pay then Demps will have once again misjudged the market and watch a player walk that he could have gotten at least a 1st round pick for.

I would. The organization bent over backwards for him not only with Lauren, but also with his injury. I'm not going to blast the guy, but it's not like he has been wronged in any way.

If this is serious and has some truth, and Jrue's not even interested in staying here no matter what, I think that tells you everything you need to know about our medical staff, not that we already know that.
I would bet he has zero trust in our staff and isn't going to risk the rest of his career with them. I'm sure seeing EG and Ryno play 70+ games each doesn't help with that, and if he talked to them and is good friends and all, he's probably a gone pecan without a doubt, assuming Jrues reasoning for leaving is mainly medical concerns, which i am assuming.

I think last year was a bit of an aberration, and that due to this year's cap we'll see Jrue sign a more modest deal than expected. Only a couple of team have the cap space/need, but both NY/PHL have other people they are targeting as well. Not to mention those two franchises may be even bigger dumpster fires than the Pels. I think 18-21 is the range Jrue signs in.

ETA: Our medical staff isn't great...but we were healthy this year for once...just saying..

think you need to start higher than this. Probably wants to go to an organization that has some actual structure (President of Basketball Operations) and isn't viewed as a 2nd fiddle to an NFL team by the team's actual owner.

I hope you're right on that, but i am expecting $23-25, or he walks.

Jrue played a lot this year and wouldn't have played so few games two years ago if Monty didn't try to rush him back initially. I think his foot is fine.

I also think he signs for a little less than the max. He can excel as a two guard here and be a starting pg in the league when our primary pg is hurt/on the bench. He can't run the show full time on a consistent enough basis and is too streaky/passive to command elite pg money

Madison is really parsing words from the end of season presser to come to this conclusion. I think Demps spoke of Jrue as if he doesn't know if Jrue will come back or not. It sounds like Pels have a number and Jrue is going to test free agency. I don't think it sounds like he is definitely gone.

For all the folks saying that Jrue is going to NY to play with his brother, his brother may want to come play for New Orleans considering he lived in Ruston for a while and his wife is from there.

I doubt that has anything at all to do with it, and is just a complaint from fans looking to bitch about something.

The Pelicans are not lacking when it comes to facilities, and i'm sure the players could give two shits who the president of basketball operations is. They share facilities with the Saints, which isn't a negative at all.

Everybody also keeps forgetting we have two of the 15 best players in the league. That alone can get a lot of good players on the phone

The one assumption you all have been wrong on so far is thinking Jake doesn't have any sources on the inside

Dead wrong.
