Is there any chance we trade Jones for something other than cash?

The hope is either to use him to dump another contract, or get a SG/SF (or backup PG), or some kind of minor pick to able to use to dump a contract.

My hope is to flip him to a maxed out contender and get an asset for him which can be used to dump salary this offseason (pick or rights to euros)

Jones has been good, but I just can't see where any team would want to take on Asik's albatross deal for a rental on Jones.

Ajinca, maybe?

I'm thinking a cheap guard or part of a larger deal.

A deal being floated on RealGM is us dumping Asik and others to the Knicks for Courtney Lee as a 3 and D guy.

The main reason the Knicks would bite is that our bad deals are shorter than Lee's.

Best scenario for us. We need SG/SF...unless benson is saying "frick it" and is going over the cap for whatever it costs to win a championship and signing one in FA/trade

Courtney Lee's D has left somethign to be desired this year relative to his career. Is it just the Knicks? He is 31, showing signs of decline, and is owed $35M+ over the next 3 years. Seems unwise to take on that big of a contract for someone who could be in a steep decline.

D league is full of guards who can shoot w AD or Cousins on the floor. Our staff has been good at finding complimentary players at great value. Let them go to work and fill out the roster with smart moveable contracts.

I like Jones backing up AD. Not sure how all of this will play out financially, but he allows us to keep a flexible option of playing small ball.

Pretty good counter for Green with the Warriors.

Jones wants to leave as much as we want to use him to help set up the next move. He's in a contract year and just saw his minutes cut big time.

I feel like Ajinca should be movable. His contract is long, but very low. I think you should be able to find a matching contract at a different position for him.

D-Mo can back up AD for the season. We can't invest the money Jones will command this offseason in another front court player and Jones wouldn't sign with us now. We need to move him and get an asset for a guy who is going to walk anyhow. It helps that he mutually wants out and shares the same agency as Boogie.
