Stern met with the media after the Board of Governors held their annual summer meeting, and said the league is looking to add possibly $100 million in revenue by permitting small advertising patches on uniforms starting in the 2013-14 season. At any point in the game, officials can now check video replay on all flagrant fouls. Officials now can use video replay in the final two minutes of overtime to decide whether a defender was in or out of the restricted area around the basket on charge and blocking fouls. Replay also can be used for goaltending calls in the late stages of games as well. In September, the competition committee will look at flopping and fouls away from the ball.

yeah i definitely agree with that but i am much more excited about the flopping replay. that is needed severely but my only concern is how do you determine which plays should reviewed for a flop. should every foul be looked at? should we have a special flopping expert watching the game to alert refs of potential flops? i want it to happen but it would be hard

All that needs to be done on flopping is fines IMO. If you make the highlight reel for flopping, expect a fine.

I think they should allow flopping(kinda) I mean delayed flops r bad but flopping is a way to reward the defensive players. It helps to keep the game from being an only offensive game. I'm against flopping on offense.

Same. It should be a fine and after-the-fact technical that counts toward the suspension number.

No, it isn't. Stops reward defensive players. Flopping rewards poor sportsmanship.

Sometimes a flop causes a stop.

Yeah, I always hated that move CP3 did where he would intentionally get run over by a player around half court. Yeah the defensive player didn't properly control himself, but you intentionally initiated the contact with a player that wasn't engaged with you while you weren't really in the middle of a play. That just always felt cheap.

And sometimes a travel results in a highlight reel dunk. That doesn't mean we should just let you take 4 steps if it results in a highlight.

By rule, I'm pretty sure that should be offensive foul, like a moving screen, but doesn't get called. The defender is allowed to run in a straight line and cannot be expected to stop his momentum instantly. They've done a good job of slowing down the "Kobe" (jumping at a 45 degree angle in front of a defender to shoot), but the Chrissy is still a problem.

Serious question: Is flopping illegal in the NBA rules?

I am not sure that it is specifically illegal, but I bet they could enforce sportsmanship through technical fouls if they really wanted to.

Thanks. I dont agree that flopping is good but if somebody is driving in and you set a charge and the person barely taps you but you fall, I feel this should be okay if it happens. Im against the CP3 crap.
