People are losing their minds over Murray when he's basically been every bit as bad as Buddy until 3 days ago. His PER didnt hit double figures until last night.

Its really really early.

And when you delve into the advanced numbers, Murray has not been a particularly good facilitator. The thing they are grooming him for and how he will have to develop to be a great player at any point given his physical limitations.

I still think both players have similar ceilings but Murray, despite what many of us initially thought, is in a much better position to be properly developed and showcased his rookie year.

We have a logjam at Buddy's position that is only going to get more bloated. A coach and GM likely on the hot seat(despite appeals to "the process"). Taking licks to give someone like Buddy 22 minutes a game and clear emphasis like Murray is getting is not in the cards. When Evans and Qpon(if ever) comes back I think he is heading for lots of DNP's.

Gary Harris and Will Barton are both ahead of him. When he his opportunity he has played better than Buddy has.

i dunno. they gave Hield a lot of leeway the first 10 games. they let him create, they let him shoot. he made bad mistakes, missed shots, and still got consistent run. i have read criticism for not defining his role, for giving him too much responsibility. i have also read criticism that they are restricting him. can't be both....

I think Gentry has gone on record saying they asked too much, too early of Hield. I think the short window after they narrowed his focus and simultaneously gave him some more emphasis on the court he started to look solid for a rookie.

I agree though, it feels like most of the criticism is built almost entirely on his shots not falling. Personally I have liked the overall improved shot selection, occasionally impressive passing and PnR and the hustle. I honestly get more excited seeing that development then I would if he was just chucking the ball and hitting 35% of his threes and doing little else like many expected.

Gentry knows he has to win now. If we had Murray he would be on the bench as well.

Gentry is trying to save his job

I've watched both pretty extensively. I am from Colorado and still keep up with their teams to an extent. I never hated Murray but defensively he is struggling like Buddy(expected) and as a facilitator he has a long ways to go.

The major difference is one guys shots have started falling and has been given increasing burn with a carved out role over the last ten games the other hasn't.

I think he and the team are trying to see where he fits best in the rotations. It may take a while with all the new faces. He'll be alright.
