Yea let's pass on the only legitimate all-star caliber talent in the draft to get some scrub later

A defense-only, skinny arse center with multiple knee injuries. Not exactly "can't miss"

A Davis/Noel front court would be insane in 2-3 years

COULD

Noel isn't even a consensus #1 pick. You greatly overvalue that dude.

The Magic traded Chris Webber to the Warriors for #3 (Penny Hardaway) and 3 future 1sts.

I'd be all over a similar trade like this.

I'm just not sold on Noel. And when Dell was saying that he wants fast, athletic players to add to this team, that makes me think they're looking into Oladipo or Burke

Also, any chance Oladipo can play PG?

I think Noel fits that bill also, but I'm with you otherwise.

I know everyone says they would take Noel to pair with Davis, but I have severe reservations about that match up. I don't think it would work.

I'll take McLemore, who everyone on here seems to be down on.

Yeah that's kinda how I feel

He's good, but if we get the 2nd pick I'd rather take Porter

If we pick at 5 and McLemore, Noel, and Porter will all be off the board. So if we end up with a top 3 pick we'll either end up with McLemore or Porter, otherwise its Burke or Oladipo

It's still a bit early and it's not his final mock, but it looks like Chad Ford has gotten the top 2 picks right for the last 4 drafts (as far back as I was able to quickly find).

quote:

Noel continues to look like the odds-on favorite to be the No. 1 pick. Looking at our various Lottery Mock Draft scenarios, Noel now comes out as the No. 1 pick in 84.8 percent of the scenarios generated. We project Noel to go No. 1 to the Magic, Bobcats, Cavaliers, Suns, Kings, Wizards, Raptors, 76ers and Mavericks. Those are pretty great odds.

Not to us, apparently.

And I like Porter, and would definitely take him at #3, but not over McLemore. He's not a scorer. I'm sick of guys who can't score.

So, the Hornets and 2 other teams wouldn't? I think I'm reading that right. He may be most likely to go #1, but I think people are going stupid for the most athletic big. He just doesn't fit for us, in my opinion. I'd rather trade back and take Burke or Len and assets.

Wait a minute...

Unless we can lock up a monster trade, wouldn't we want to pair Noel and Davis together? Unless we can get something like the Webber trade above, that would be my plan.

Two tiny dudes in the front court together? Imagine the grizzlies, or the Lakers. Oh, no sir. Lol.

Eta: by tiny I mean scrawny. Lets go with that.

Would you say no to a front court of Tyson Chandler and Kevin Garnett? Yes it'd be a scary front court for the next 2 - 3 years, but after they became men it'd probably be the best front court in the league.

I agree. I think Mclemore has special potential. Higher upside than anybody in this draft, including a healthy Noel

You just don't see many elite-level athletes with great jumpshots. Its usually one or the other. A guy is hyper athletic so he never had to bother learning to shoot. Or a guy learns to shoot because he isn't athletic to just jump over everybody.
I think the young Ray Allen comparisons are legit with him. I'd take him first in a heartbeat and if he's what i think he'll be it makes moving Gordon that much easier.

I'd have Burke 2nd on my list. Porter 3rd. Then i'd decide between Oladipo and Noel if those three are gone.

I mean that is something nice but do we really have 2-3 years. When they become fruitful (lol), we'd have a new regime of coaching in. But that's a hypothetical. What if they become kg and Greg oden, or kg and hakeem warrick
