Klay may not be Gordon, but Barnes would be the 3 we need and it would be a good young core to build around.

Maybe you don't get them both for Gordon, but what about Gordon plus a top 5 protected 1st? The Hornets take the uncertainty out of drafting an unknown 2nd draft tier SF and Golden State, who has no 1st this year, gets enough assets to justify the trade.

I like EG more than Thompson, hes a way better fit for what this teams needs... but until he proves he can stay on the floor Im sketchy on the idea of making him a huge part of this teams future.

Gordon/AFA for Thompson/Barnes/Jefferson works with a TPE on GSW's side (it works straight up for Gordon, it just depends on if you think AFA adds to the trade for GSW). We would then have to throw in a pick I think, I would go top 7 protected year one and top 3-5 protected year two. Don't know how realistic that is.

We're getting ahead of ourselves anyway, as reports say that GSW is hesitant to give up Klay. Let alone Klay and Barnes.

I'd think the Warriors take a serious look at that.
We're 7th-worst in the league right now, which means they'd get the pick unless we won the lottery. I don't see us getting any lower than 4th-worst, given how bad Cleveland, DC, Orlando, and Charlotte are.

Let's take a look at their career averages.
Thompson hasn't been injured, is 6'7" and can play some SF, a year younger. Can obviously stroke from 3. Great foul shooter. 2 years in the league, 1 year playing starter minutes. He should improve going forward.

If we could land Barnes and klay, I would move EG, AFA, and this year's unprotected.
Face it, this draft sucks and Barnes answers our problem at 3, Klay at the 2, Jefferson's big arse contract expires after next year, giving us dollars to make a play after 2014.
That would be a hell of a core.

The fact that the TP is actually reporting on it makes me wonder if it's a strategic Hornets leak, and if it's a Hornets leak that makes me think the goal is possibly to drive up Gordon's value for this summer.

I wouldn't do an unprotected personally.
Also I wish we could get a third team to take on either Biedrins or Jefferson (and we take on the other). If they were dumping both and getting Gordon and a pick, I don't see any way that GSW turns that down. But that's a pipedream for a trade deadline deal.

Honestly, free agency is possibly weaker than the draft this year (outside of the really big fish). We would still have space to go after the max guys, too. We would actually end up opening up more cap space for 2014 free agency, which looks to have a deeper talent pool.

This is what Im afraid of... When does Gordon's "potential" luster go away, diminishing he trade value? Hes been thought of as a top 5 SG in this league by most, but has yet to prove that... do we wanna be the team stuck paying him $14+ a year if this Gordon we're getting now is all he turns out to be?
