Gripes against Gentry's Coaching Approach, so far

1) Doesn't put current squad in positions to succeed. Instead of running his great uptempo offense, Gentry needs to slow it down and limit opponent possessions given he has neither the players nor the depth to play his such an aggressive approach right now. With no wing depth its going to be impossible for the Pels to get good looks from the players they need to be taking those looks.
2) Abandoned the mid-range game. It's as if he coached it out of the playbook entirely. Pels were one of the best mid-range teams last year, mainly because of that elbow 18-footer from AD, who shot from that area at a league-best clip (acc. to Kirk Goldsberry). I get teams are going to adjust to it with more tape and a year to catch up. BUT for the love of God can we at least get him a few of those looks per game. HE HITS THEM AT A PHENOMENAL CLIP, ANALYTICS BE DAMNED. Also, Dante Cunningham 3s scare me. I loved his KG-esque baseline J. I hate his Draymond Green-esque corner 3.
3) I do like that they seem to be getting the extra pass in an creating better open looks. Multiple times EG, Babbitt, and Ryan were WIDE open last night because of the hockey assist, but simply bricked 'em.
4) As depth returns the squad will get better and more cohesive. Yet, it seems like Gentry is pretty stubborn with what he wants to do and not willing to make the necessary adjustments game to game.

I don't necessarily disagree with anything you've pointed but the midrange shot really shouldn't be a focal point of any offense. Not saying they should never take those shots but I don't think you ought to be running 20 plays a game with the end goal being a mid range jumper.

I can't believe I read a nolababy post and didn't cringe, much less actually agree with some of the points.

I don't get the stubbornness either. That and lack of finding ways to get Davis involved are my biggest complaints. These guys aren't gonna be around in a month. Who gives a crap if they know how to run this offense? Let's try to get a W or two and dumb it down a little.

I hope they just work with what they have instead of trying to force sub par players to play up to a standard of ball they can't meet.

To be fair Gentry says they're doing it right in practice. I don't know how long things need to be bad to try and change course, but he'd be a terrible coach if he gave up on something after 4 games that he believed in and was seeing executed well in practice but not in games.

Ummmm......unless it's your best player's go-to money shot and he can't buy a bucket doing whatever the focal point of this offense is.

Isn't Gentry supposed to be good with analytics?

It seems he is more concerned with the macro than the micro.

I ended up autodrafting (something I haven't ever done before in a pay league) due to personal crap going on. I have been participating though, setting my lineup, etc. I have 3 injured players, 2 of which I have to ride out at this point if I want to be competitive later. They're better than anything out there healthy. I just have to hope Parsons and Afflalo get their shite together soon. I'm down in games played. I've had some pleasant surprises from the autodraft. I actually wasn't THAT bummed when I saw what they drafted for my team. If I had been able to replace Parsons, Green, and Afflalo with actual players, I might be halfway competitive.
