Been thinking lately that we can skip on Trey Burke for someone else in the first and maybe pay for a early to mid 2nd Round pick to draft a point guard. I've watched Phil Pressey and Pierre Jackson at length during the season and I would be very comfortable drafting one of those two.
Pressey is very capable of running a quality NBA team and he could develop like Mike Conley or DJ Augustin did over time. Good vision, solid shooter, leader. Not saying he plays like the two previously mentioned in terms of similar game but can have a steady incline career over the years. I'm confident he will do well in the league, possibly start for a team soon and may eventually be better than those two.

As for Pierre Jackson, I think he could develop nicely into a quality back up point guard who could have a mentality like Eric Bledsoe where he is an aggressive scoring option off the bench or for the 2nd team. He is a quality, timely shooter, suprisingly efficient rebounder for his size and just has balls. I liken his demeanor to a Mario Chalmers where when the stars are choking in a Game 7, he is the one playing hero and performing at a high level for the moment. Dude is just solid and can make it if he gets on the right team. I can only imagine how well he might do on the Spurs with a Popovich.

Your thoughts?

Hopefully more like Conley for his sake.

Don't understand the hate on the subject... The two guys are quality NBA prospects who have just as much chance to make it as Burke.
Let's not act like Burke is a can't miss prospect or the second coming of Allen Iverson or something where itsa no brained. He's got potential to become good or incapable just like the other two.
All I'm saying is that those two are solid options to where if you didn't get Burke or passed on him for another option the team liked better, then we could still get a quality young point guard who could POSSIBLY upgrade the starting or back up point guard position immediatelyor down the line.

An added bonus would letting Rivers play his natural 2 spot and not force it if it doesn't fit just for the sake of salvaging the justification for drafting him.

Don't be naive to the option just cuz Burke is there maybe. I say to those who don't like it, what if Burke is not there at 6 or we pass, is this scenario still not to be considered?

Bet your answer will suprise you and if not them then who else? This draft sucks and the second is putrid save a few.. the only other person I like is CJ Leslie. Period. We need cheap but quality players who can produce so we can get the stars and still be well rounded... Duh. That's why the Spurs are in the Finals, they find and develop diamonds in the rough and consistently do it. If Monty and Dell are going to stick around, they have to do this bc u can't always over pay quality players just to come here... We saw how that worked with Peja and Posey and lost a few years of winning bc of it and couldnt keep the team together. That's why they had to start with Chandler and it all went downhill from there really.

I like those two to stick in the league just as much as anybody outside of top 5 really. No one in this draft is a guarantee so why not them....

By the way, I hate the Spurs but respect how they do it consistently without drafting stars all day. They do the research, evaluate and then develop the talent that they get or choose. No one thought Danny Green was even a damn shooter coming out of Carolina but now under the tutelage of Pop and his own hard work, dude will eventually get paid. They all do under Pop and then leave for more money... If Monty learn from Pop then surely he can emulate some of it to an extent. This is the only way he and Dell will last in New Orleans. Drafting and finding players, developing them and they produce at a high level for a cheap contract in comparison to production output.

Caveat: I hate the Spurs second, I really hate the Heat so I'm rooting for the Spurs... Lol.

I just have to disagree. This draft is actually pretty solid. There isn't much separation in-between prospects, but there is a ton of value. I just don't understand why we would suddenly start buying picks from other teams. The team isn't flush with cash or have deep pockets. I just don't see that happening. They'll have to come through trades..
