George or Cousins

Who fits better with AD?
In theory, getting Cousins means Davis wouldn't have to be in the post and could guard SFs and play outside the paint (where i think he's best). It would give us a big three (assuming Holiday stays). However, I dislike this idea because it is a step away from the way the rest of the league is going and we wouldn't have picks. We have all seen this front office's track record with free agents.
The proposed trades I have seen is some variation of Hield and our next two firsts.
PG- Holiday (above average starter, FA this summer)
SG- Moore (below avg starter but would benefit greatly from spacing)
SF- Cunningham ??
PF- Davis (all-star)
C- Cousins (all-star)
Bench- Frazier, Galloway, Hill, Jones
With a Paul George, we still lack a competent center, but have the pieces to make flexible lineups. George is an elite defender and can guard multiple positions (just like AD). We can play combos like:
1) Holiday, Moore, George, Davis, Montejiunas
2) Frazier, Holiday, Moore, George, Davis
3) Holiday, Moore, George, Jones, Davis
It would basically be injecting a top-15 NBA player into our lineup without needing to make significant changes. We would still have a gap at center and poor depth, but I think this is a better solution.
Tl;dr -- We are better but still fricked. Thanks Demps

Cousins 10 times over. I'm not even sure how teams will guard Davis with Cousins on the roster.

100% of people should prefer PG it's not even a question.
However, neither is happening.

PG all day everyday. Cousins attitude is a huge turn off.

Paul George times a million. Do y'all really see roughly 60% of your team's scoring being from your PF and C? You think that would work out well?
The Pelicans biggest need is a scorer/playmaker and they need shooters around them.
Boogie and AD would be a disaster.

Nah you can get a great player you do. Historically great frontcourt.
But yeah PG is the answer obviously.

Paul George would make this team a more complete team and Hill coming off the bench would be better.
Wish we could unload Reke, Asik and 2017&18 #1's for PG

Add in Hield they might. Teams want talent too

Didn't want to get rid of Buddy but if it meant landing PG then do it

Not including jrue or Davis, our only assets are Hield and Moore. Teams will want the cheaper guy who has potential to grow. Unfortunately that's Hield and if you're getting a star, they're going to want a potential player back.
Think back to our dealing with cp3 and clippers. The pick was a bonus, Gordon was the centerpiece.

We don't have the assets to even get in the conversation on George, I think the market on Cousins is cool enough that trading for him isn't a crazy idea. Also, Cousins and AD would be zigging while the rest of the league was zagging. While everyone was building small ball teams the Pels would have 2 unguardable post players that are mobile enough to play passable - good defense.

But when teams go small ball does cousins stay on the court? Means AD would have most likely cover a SF playing PF
Posted on 2/19/17 at 6:24 pm to TigerBehindEnemyLines
That's the question. We've seen Minnesota play the 73 win GSW last year with KAT on the court even with Gsw going small ball. And I believe they won right?
AD and cousins can guard most players, except uber agile guards and jrue/Moore are still there.
Say the death lineup of
Curry
Thompson
Iggy
Durant
Green
Jrue is still on curry, Moore is on iggy, hill is on Thompson, Davis is on Durant and cousins bang down low with green.

Small ball lineups can not stop a Davis/Cousins Front court. With Solo flexibility along with Jrue, the team should be in good shape against small ball lineups.

Paul George easily. Scoring wing we never had. 6'10 can play SG and SF and defend. Score at will. Would be nice. Would be nice to have Cousins attitude when AD gets passive or whiny to tell him hush up.

I think Davis could gaurd KD to some compacity but it would be a tough night on him and he would be away from the basket too much. But that would be just against GS.
Think of the same GS team against us if we traded for Paul George.
Jrue on Curry, Moore on Iggy Hill on Thompson, George on KD and Davis on Green

Nobody is saying Cousins > George, but we can't get George so it's a moot point. The question is can the Pels with Cousins be better than any other paths they can take. I think the options are so limited you have to take a shot at Cousins if you can get him.

Exactly. ZERO percent chance at George. Zero.
