Brady in Kenner: How do you envision Ryan Anderson being used in your system?

Gentry: Ryan is one of those guys who shoots with great range, and we like the fact that he’s a stretch player. But I think he has much more to his game than that. In the playoffs, he made four straight post-up shots. He’s also has the capability of taking the ball to the basket and getting fouled. And he creates space for Anthony when they’re both in the game. I think you’ll see Ryan on the floor quite a bit.

It makes some sense to move Anderson. It also makes some sense to keep him because he and Davis are unguardable.

Same time, people read way too much into public comments or, in this case, lack of comments. How many times did Monty say "We're going to get out and run" in off season pressers?

If we can't get in the mix on a superstar, I wouldn't be surprised if they bring Ryno back next year. I have a harder time seeing Gordon here long term unless he does more than hit's 3s this season. He did look in even better shape in a recent photo, and that's on top of coming into camp last year the slimmest we've ever seen him.

IMO his a great floor spacer for Reke with the 2s as well.

I really liked the squad we put on the floor at the end of the year. IMO, if we had Cole/DC to start the year then we would have been in the 4-7 mix.

That quote reminded me. Remember in the playoffs there was a 4 min stretch when Ryno was the best basketball player in the world???

I only remember the stretch after it where Monty stopped going to the hot hand.

That's been the consistent theme from Gentry- the guys here weren't maximized. The Evans quote, this Ryno quote, the Davis anecdote in the meeting, the Erman "avoid consfusion" quote all point to a poor job of coaching. All point to the things most Pels fans have said over the past year(s).

Like I said above, take public comments with a grain of salt (especially from an incoming staff), but there does seem to be a coherent theme in what they are saying.

That is weird, because I feel the exact opposite, but it's more because of how much we are already paying our front court (about 42 mil per year between AD/Ajinca/Asik) and the fact that when you look out on the market, there are always suitable bigs. Heck, DC can be our 4th big for 3 mil.

I don't see either back, but I can envision Gordon easier, because let's say we get a KD or Melo - Gordon can play in that lineup and finish games, while there would be no spot for Ryno. Or even if we get a Batum or Parsons, those guys can finish at the 4. I just don't see room for Ryno long term.

Ajinca and Asik are making appropriate amounts percentage wise. If Ryno can do the same on his next deal how is this any different than when we first got Asik and had fantasies about a perfectly balanced 3 big rotation? I don't recall anyone saying "This will work as long as AD's on his rookie contract but after that we have to break it up."

Despite being terrible on defense, Ryno + AD has lead to some great numbers. If Gentry and his staff can highlight the positive and minimize the negatives of this group, the opposite of what Monty was able to do, how are they too expensive unless someone throws a near max at Ryno? Sure you don't keep Ryno over KD, and probably not even over Batum, but if you don't end up getting a big money SF upgrade, it's not like we should just let him walk.

Even with a grain of salt, I get the impression of a more organized and focused staff. Hell, how much did we really hear from assistants during the off season under Monty?

Idk, Hale got some very juicy info at the halftime interview

My biggest Monty complaint was the absolute crap lineups he would throw on the court at times. It was like he didn't get the concept of staggering the rest of his stars. I nearly broke my TV early in last season when he had a backcourt of Jimmer and AR for stretches even though Jrue, Reke, and EG were healthy and not in foul trouble.

Ryno was staring down Draymond Green after every shot too. It was awesome
