Dude can score. No doubt if he wasn't playing with Tatum, Kennard, and Allen, then he would have been drafted higher.

This isn't that surprising considering he was taken with the 1st pick in the 2nd round, but I think they might have pulled off another Diallo. Drafting mid 1st talent with a 2nd round pick. His fit from that highlight reel looks perfect, spotting up from 3, attacking the basket, but my favorite was the give and go hand off with a big at the elbow. That was in the highlight reel multiple times and seems like they kind of thing the Pels would like to run with Cousins.

How did this work? I didn't watch, but this video shows that Charlotte drafted him, but in the paper it doesn't say anything about this.

The Pels traded pick #40 and cash to Charlotte for the #31 pick.

None of the trades really go through until later, it isn't on-the-fly like the NFL, so the team who had the original pick typically makes it

This quote makes it sound like they knew the trade was in place and they told the Hornets who to pick...what am I missing

**ok I just read the other thread, got it.

Nothing, that's what happened. What do you think you're missing? The Hornets picked #31 for the us, the Pels picked #40 for them.

That's exactly what happened dude. The trade can't be "official" right away so the team who initially had the traded pick, picks for the team they traded with.

the highlight reel is pretty incredible. he turned 19 last month so he's got a lot of growing to do. What I've gathered is #1 he's a high-energy, down-to-earth, hard-working kid.

there was a lot of speculation he'd go earlier but his foot injury caused him to drop. The consensus is that he's a true combo guard. He doesn't have the ball handling skills or patience to set up an offense (one thinking that Jrue does really well), is not a great facilitator, and at the moment doesn't have the size to be a 2 guard. Defense is also something he needs to work on.

But the kid is 19 and a hard worker so he'll grow and develop. He has excellent shooting mechanics (I expect him to be around a 37% 3-point shooter) and killer scoring instincts. I think we will begin by seeing him off the bench with Crawford giving us high energy minutes.

I was thinking about this last night noticing all the trading going on.
So a trade is agreed upon between the two teams, and isn't officially approved until after the draft or whenever. So the Hornets make the pick, which I would assume we said "take this guy", and then vice versa. No big deal, seems simple.

What happens if for whatever reason the trade isnt' approved? has that ever happened? Think back to us trading for Jrue. What if they had actually discovered in the physical his injury issues and the trade didnt' go through? We're stuck with a pick we didn't even make?

He aint playing year one.

Again, don't look at this as the Pelicans 2017 second rounder. This is the Pelicans 2018 first rounder. Next year will be a redshirt year.

I mean Diallo didn't play last yer because of AD, Ajinca, DC, Jones, and Asik (lol). But I feel like FJ's competition for play time isn't as difficult to crack as Diallo. What makes your think he won't play until 2018?

His game reminds me of Austin Rivers.
