I am amazed how their is so much Tyreke hate on this board... He is the only one of our guards not including Jrue who can penertrate toward the basketball make contact power through and get the And 1

Rivers makes great penetration however he flys 20 feet when he gets contact and usually misses the layup

Gordon is just to short and weak and everytime he near the paint regardless his shite gets blocked toward the first row

Tyreke is exactly what Monty and our offense in gerneral need to do... Every rebound Tyreke needs to run with the ball see if he can get an easy basket, if not give it back to Jrue and let him and Davis run the pick and roll. Leaving whatever shooter we have in the corner to space the floor

The Pelicans problem is we do not have a player who can make his own shot, not layup or dunk but I'm talking shot... Gordon was that guy but... Yea we all know how bad Gordon is. We need a guard who can be a threat in isolation and make his shot, and not just power through for a layup... We already have Tyreke for that. I would even consider letting Jrue play more of a Shooting Guard role and try to get his shot on quick. Ryan Anderson is a great shooter but games where he plays a lot of minutes it shows in the 4th quarter when his legs get tired and he leaves his shots short.

Monty's problem is he trust way to much in Austin Rivers and even thou I am the only one who agrees with myself about Jimmer getting NO chance to play I will not rant about Jimmer needs more playing time. Monty has not played Thornton and Morrow enough when they were hear and IMO both players would of been that shooter we needed in the back court. Instead he played Willie Green And now Austin Rivers.. Both ball hogs!!!!

My iPad at 2% so I think I'll stop here for now... And o yea Go Pelicans

We can't trade Gordon. No one will take him unless we are taking back something as bad or worse.

and get the And 1
that would require making the basket

Yup, because thats the mark of a great basketball team. Amount of players who can penetrate toward the basketball make contact power through and get the And 1. Every successful championship team has been built around that.

Gordon is not weak at all nor do his shots get blocked any more frequently than Tyrekes. He doesn't charge or hold the ball nearly as much though.

You left out Rivers. Demps literally couldn't give him away this summer when they needed cap space.

I have noticed an interesting phenomenon on here: those that hate Reke are overrating the shite out of Gordon.

Neither are particularly great or good value. I would love to dump both of them.

Well, there are entire offenses built around that concept... like the dribble drive motion offense Calipari runs at Kentucky.

He's expiring so I don't think it matters that much, but I could see a team taking him as part of a larger deal before the deadline.

Having a slasher/penetrator to go along with great spacers is pretty much basketball 101.

The problem is that Tyreke has been finishing at a very poor rate and ALWAYS looks to take his shot and doesn't kick it out.

How good is Holiday at penetrating off the dribble?

I definitely wouldn't say he's anything special at it. Rivers and Reke are both a lot better at that skillset. The problem is neither can finish, both are turnover prone, neither are particularly good defenders, good at the line, or have good jumpshots. Jrue has all of those other things.

I think Holiday is more than adequate at this. I think his problem is he lacks aggressiveness on offense.

I know we can not get shite for Rivers or Gordn, however even if we get draft picks we save ALOT of money getting rid of Gordon contract

Now no team wants him or his contract so we would have to take another bad contract but let's find that contract that only has one more year left or even two years... I am guessing we have more than 2 years left on Gordon's contract

We would have to give up draft picks to dump Gordon, not the other way around.

He has this year, then a player's option (which he will obviously exercise), and next year. That's it.

Even if you did a trade of Gordon for Gerald Wallace and went from $15 - $10 million worth of bad contract next year, this gains you nothing. You still don't have enough cap space to sign a starter.

Exactly. The only thing feasible is to either ride it out with Gordon, or try to break up his contract next year in a trade for two players making less on longer contracts. Or the stretch obviously.
