Bye Bye Gordon
Gordon to Detroit. Rodney Stuckey and Sacramento's 2016 2nd round pick(owned by Pels) to the Jazz. Greg Monroe and Richard Jefferson to the Pels.

Why New Orleans would do it: Monroe is a unique talent. His strengths as a passer, rebounder, and post scorer are overshadowed by two serious flaws: defense and shooting. In terms of team-building, that means pairing Monroe with another poor shooter puts a low ceiling on an offense, while pairing him with another subpar defender cripples a team’s chance to compete defensively. To augment his positive traits on a winning team, Monroe’s frontcourt partner would need to be able to shoot and anchor a defense — a really rare combination.
Anthony Davis is a really rare player. Davis is already proving capable of knocking down midrange shots — he’s shooting a respectable 41 percent this year from 15 to 19 feet — and as far as the defensive side of things, well, let’s just say he’s got that covered too.
With virtually no shot of signing Monroe outright in the offseason, acquiring him via trade gives the Pelicans options going forward. If he fares well during the final stretch and both parties find the right deal this offseason, Monroe could join Davis and sharpshooter Ryan Anderson in a very intriguing frontcourt rotation. If Monroe is deemed too expensive, New Orleans can simply let him walk and call the trade a win, thanks to the enormous cap relief it would receive from jettisoning Gordon.
Also, moving Gordon for basically anything makes the Tyreke Evans signing a bit less ridiculous. So there’s that.

I really can't believe how many people not tied to Detroit seem to think Gordon for Monroe is a fair swap.

Sign me the frick up.
Not happening though.

I would do this in 2 seconds. Hense, why it is a fake trade.

So you feel like Detroit would be getting the short end of the stick?

Definitely. Even if Gordon were a better fit than Monroe, they should be able to get more value from Monroe than Gordon.

I would fap so hard if this happened.
But there is no chance whatsoever.

In a crazy world, Gordon for Smith would be fun.
If a guy like Karl were running the team, I'd say why not. Holiday/Evans/Smith/Anderson/Davis would be nuts and silly, but really, really fun. Get a bunch of wing shooters/defenders and who knows.

And then you had to go and make me cry.

This makes entirely too much sense to actually happen.

The real question there is will David ever be primarily a Center?

This would be a perfect trade for us. As I posted in another thread, this young Pelicans team could use a David West/Pacers type player for some veteran leadership. Jefferson, who is shooting 42% from 3s this year, would be perfect for that role, and perfect along side Tyreke.

Yea, I would tend to agree. But, if something like this could be pulled off....

Monroe/Davis
Monroe/Anderson
Davis/Anderson
frick it, turn it into reality.

Don't really think they should do that. The cap sheet would be Knicksian and Smith has been awful and unlikely to get better as he ages.
But it would be fun in a crazy way.

Bingo. You don't let talented big men go for young guards with attitude and injury concerns.
