I know most will disagree with me and want to trade the pick, but I think Ball or Fultz would be amazing. Young, cheap, position of need, and already better than Tim Frazier

I'm ready for Boogie to slap daddy Ball.

We've got no shot. Don't get your hopes up.

every lottery team has a shot
not big, but still a shot.
here are climbs from 8-14th range to top 3
in 2014 Cavs climbed from 9 to 1.
2013 WAS 8 to 3
2011 LAC 9-1
2008 CHi 9-1
4 times in 10 years a team climbed from 8-9 to top-3
1999 Hornets were 13th after regular season and finished at 3rd. With Baron Davis
there is a chance

Ball won't be that great in the NBA--shot too slow and not uber-athletic. Not buying the hype.

Yeah, I'm not sold on him, either. I'm not overly concerned about his athleticism, but that hitch in his shot will be a problem against the longer, more athletic defenders he'll see in the NBA. I also don't want a meddling family member undermining chemistry.

One thing that makes me feel better about trading the pick...Davis/small ball were going to carry us to a similar records. Much like last year's draft (except this one has real talent top end), the picks fall off a cliff after 7-8. So that pick really carries much less value than if we were sitting in the 4-6 hole.
I freaking hate it as I hate his dad and his personality seems to have shades of Lamar in him, but if we draft #1, it's LONZO BALL all day. You guys want Ricky Rubio. Enter Ricky Rubio with a slightly better/uglier J.

It isn't about what we agree or disagree with. It is about what will happen.
If we get a top 3 pick, we are going to do everything possible to trade that pick for star player and/or veterans.

Jimmy Butler, come on down!

Hill/Moore/Asik/#1 pick for Butler/Lopez.
Make it happen.
Make it happen.

I understand but is that the smartest move? We need to be realistic and know that no matter the improvements we make this offseason (short of landing Butler/George, etc), we wont win the finals next season. We need to pick our spots wisely so we don't miss this opportunity w/AD and Boogie on the same roster. AD is locked up for 5 years and Boogie will more than likely resign so you don't need to go all out this summer.
In my opinion, we should at least explore letting Jrue walk if we end up landing a top 3 pick. Draft Fultz, Ball, or Jackson, then try to lure a high end guy next summer. It would open our cap space a little by allowing our largest contracts not named AD and Cousins to look more appealing via trade (Asik, Hill, Moore would have 2 years left on their deals) so we can go after someone that everyone agrees is a max player, as opposed to spending near max money on a player like Jrue that we debate about.
A lineup like Fultz/Moore/PG/AD/Boogie in two seasons (with not a lot but more cap flexibility) looks like a more healthy starting 5 than the alternative

In the short term, yes. With Boogie/AD/Jrue, they really don't have time to wait for a rookie to develop over the course of 5 years.
If they can get a star player while also dumping a contract or two, they probably have to do it.
If you get a Butler level player to go with Boogie and AD, the roster will take care of itself and you are an instant WCF contender (or SHOULD be).

Issue with lonzo is baggage, can you imagine if we play .500 ball?
His daddy would be all over the media, "If they stop letting B-players like Cousins/Davis/Holiday try to lead this team and let Lonzo, we'd be a 74 win team right now!"

Yea I agree. And either way I got ahead of myself. If we do land a top 3 we have time to shop the pick before the draft and FA. I guess the real question would be what do we do if we land a top 3 pick and we cannot come to an agreement for Butler/PG?
whats the lowest offer you would accept before you said "screw it we are keeping the pick"?
also im not saying we need to wait on a rookie to develop. I'm just saying having a young talented player on a rookie contract is low risk and high reward. And it would help our cap as well

Yeah I would want Fultz in a vacuum.
If I had the #2 I would try to trade it for a star. I wouldn't want Ball.
