Jon Krawczynski? @APkrawczynski

Emeka Okafor has been cleared to return to action, is working out and is determined to return to the NBA, I'm told.

Okafor last played in 2012-13 with Washington, but was sidelined by a herniated disc in his neck. But he's been working out and is ready

Okafor was still a big factor in his final season with the Wiz - 9.7 pts, 8.8 rebs in 26 mpg. He's already been in touch w/some teams

Emeka Okafor will turn 35 in September, but after working out still feels like he has plenty left in the tank

Captain Pilates was a consummate professional while he was here and he's a high IQ player. If we have the roster spots I'd sign him to the Kendrick Perkins role.

Dude hasn't played in 4 years. We have enough shitty bigs imo.

I mean, if it is a completely unguaranteed contract at the minimum we can cut immediately if he sucks, sure, why not.

Didn't he score the game winning basket for the other team one game when he used to play for us?
Hard pass

That was Asik, Okafor hit an improbable buzzer beater for the win once.

I didn't even like Okafor when he was "good", let alone now.

i was so excited when ESPN Radio said the Hornets signed him. I was sitting in line at Whataburger on Siegen.

What a letdown he was

You were excited that we traded Tyson for him?

I'd take a chance on someone like Patric Young over Okafor, but I'm talking about the "veteran presence" role. If we're going to have an over the hill guy that you hope doesn't play I'd rather that wasted roster spot be a big and not a guard/wing. We need to throw as many guards/wings at the wall to see what sticks.

That was one of my favorite games watching the hornets. It was a full court pass then Okafor hits a crazy shot to force OT. That was the last game David West played in a hornets uniform when he tore his ACL. If West doesn't tear his ACL that game, I think we would have finished the season out strong and been able to finish higher than the 7th seed and maybe we could have won a series. If that happened, could easily change the course of Hornets/Pelicans history.

pretty sure the DX injury happened late in the season like March or April or something...

but Chris Paul was always going to leave. we just weren't a true contender whether we had beaten those Lakers or not

It did happen late that season during that game.

However, they would end up dropping their last three games of the season, which makes a big difference, as they could have been anywhere as high as the fifth seed. Let's say Denver loses two more games and the hornets with a healthy West were able to win their last three games and sneak into the fifth seed. In this scenario, we would be up against a young thunder team that at the time had yet to win a playoff series. Let's say we are able to take down the inexperienced thunder (which is plausible given the stellar play of Chris Paul that year in the playoffs).

That was the year that the grizzlies beat the spurs. So if the hornets beat the thunder in this scenario, they would be matched up with the grizzlies in the semis, which would be winnable. If this happens and they make the conference finals (regardless if they won or lost the WCF), I could see CP3 at least wanting to stay another year and maybe West resigns.

Nah. David West said after the fact that trading Tyson was a serious breach between management and promises they had made. It pretty much fell apart then behind the scenes.

Well, he's 34, which is pretty old by NBA standards. On the plus side, he's only played in 596 NBA games, including playoffs, which isn't all that much.

For comparison's sake, David West had played in 554 games (including playoffs) when he left New Orleans 5.5 years ago, and had plenty left in the tank.
