Or does he get canned before the end of the season?? This team is either really bad or is completely not set up for this type of system. How many would take Monty back right now?? AD looks completely lost in this system!

He's easily gonna be given a chance to prove himself.

Yes. I'd be interested to see what kind of buyout he has, though. If we don't see major improvements, we need to move on from both he and Demps before the ships sinks completely.

Bold Prediction. Saints get back into the playoff race, the city stops paying attention to the dumpster fire next to the Dome, and by they time the people give basketball a chance again the Pelicans will have gotten healthy and put out the fire.

He wasn't the answer long term and the odds were he'd have made the playoffs again and therefore gotten an extension, so no thanks.

He doesn't just look lost, he is lost. Gentry didn't throw anyone under the bus last night, but he did blame pretty much everything but the system. Players aren't moving, no ball movement, AD has to handle double and triple teams better. All of those things are true, except we know some schemes and plays that play to Davis' skill set better than what they're running with the people you have available.

I mean that is kinda what I am thinking. Let's just say this season is a complete cluster frick which it very well could be. Do we give him another year to try and bring in more of his type of players? Then we put him on a short leash for next year?

Gee, I sure in the hell thought we would build off of last years success not take a step back so far this season. I know the season just started but we sure look like a team that has no identity. I know we have players hurt, guess time will tell.

Better question is, if we don't make the playoffs this year does that make us a 'bad' team? Should we blow things up, coaches and players, because of one injury filled and clustered season?

Does anyone think the plan could me more long term than just winning a title this year?

See OKC

Calm down.

I'll give him until the all-star break to show some signs of progress, which has got to be inevitable considering how terrible we look right now.

I wasn't against getting rid of Monty in the first place. I thought he did a pretty damn admirable job given the injuries and that we were showing consistent progress every year. How many coaches out there are really the "long term" answer? Not sure why we didn't try to build upon last year and see if he could grow into that role.

I mean I get the frustration early on with Gentry, but the amount of THIS on the board is staggering. There is certainly room for improvement, but there are some positives to be taken out of it as well, mainly how sharp we've looked in second halves after digging ourselves huge holes.

People gave Monty 5 years, and they are ready to jump ship on Gentry after 4 games and want Monty back???

Do ya'll remember how much we sucked when Brian Roberts was running point for awhile last time Tyreke was out, and we didn't have Cole to back him up? Same problems. PGs going off and getting whatever they wanted. Wide open shooters due to inability to contain the lane. Inefficient offense. It didn't look as ugly cause we did nothing but watch Brian Roberts pound the ball into the court for 20 seconds.

I count at least 110 MPG in suits or at home last night.

Tyreke Evans (35 MPG) Pondexter (30 MPG) Asik (25 MPG) Cole (20 MPG). Add in the fact that Holiday's minutes restriction cuts off another 10-15 MPG and you literally have half of your expected rotation (120 out of 240 MPG) not available. Not only that, the 9-11th guys you have behind them are dinged up (Babbitt, DC, Perkins). We are literally forced to play end of bench players or worse for half of the game.

When combinations of Holiday, Gordon, Davis, and Anderson play like crap, you are expecting D-League level players to pick you up. It is not going to happen.

I think the lack of getting Davis involved has been a huge problem and a giant chunk of that is on Gentry, but for the love of God, if you were the other team, who are you going to let beat you: Ish Smith, Luke Babbitt, Toney Douglas, Dante Cunningham, Alexis Ajinca or Anthony freaking Davis. Right now, we have one player that can break down the defense and get Davis looks closer to the rim (Holiday). People acting like Davis' post game resembles Patrick Ewing just aren't paying attention. He does have a good chunk of points in the paint from last year, but many of them were off putbacks, dives, or even dribble drives. None of those are an option for him the majority of the time unless Holiday is making plays like he did in the 4th.

Yes, it's ugly. But come on people. The amount of obstacles going into this season already is downright laughable. Can we at least be reasonable enough to not ask for Monty Williams back in every other post?

After the fact rumors suggest that Monty told Loomis that he or Demps had to go. Monty also was reportedly not listening to coaching advise from his own staff. No clue how true any of that is, but if it is, the clashing egos were getting toxic. Why he didn't get rid of both I don't understand. But Loomis is a GM who has also had moves blow up in his face, so he and Demps probably understand each other well.

This board, like every other sports message board . . . shite, any kind of interwebz message board . . . is unbearable at times. My view is to limit my exposure to this place for awhile.

Maybe they are fishing for lottery balls with an eye on next season...

I am seriously considering giving up my season tickets. I have stuck with this team through thick and thin, but this season is fricking with my emotions.

If we don't have 15 wins by ASB then he gone.

15-33. yeah i'd say hit the road jack.

I didn't want Monty anymore, but i didn't want Gentry. I'd rather stuck with Monty than hire a coach that has a long proven history of not winning. We were already winning. We just didn't think Monty could take us to that next level, a level Gentry never got to either in 10+ years of head coaching.
