You mean the year they drafted westbrook and tanked for Harden? Then finished 50-32?

Yeah they specifically tanked to get James Harden

And in theory, the same could happen to us should we fail to make the playoffs this year. We could get a star in the draft and then be awesome next year...yet you would have already fired our GM by then.

Yea, we'll definitely get a star in the draft if we miss the playoffs

Do you really fail to see that in the "point" you just made, you would have fired the GM before they had that great year after drafting Harden?

So you think we can draft a star if we are in the lotto next year?

That's not the point. I don't care about the draft next year. The point is, you give this team a couple seasons to form some chemistry before you consider it a failure and start firing people.

OKC didn't overreact to missing the playoffs even with a lot of (young) talent and that process has been pretty successful.

You would have advocated that the GM be fired right before the team he assembled started winning.

Smart.

To be fair to Blue in this argument (I think he's perma-trolling fwiw), OKC has done a god-awful job of managing their roster since they drafted Harden. They extended the 1 dimensional player (Ibaka), traded for a terrible contract (Perkins), and let the best SG in the league walk out of there (Harden). They're moving backwards when they had the core to compete for a title every year.

Oh I completely agree there. But that still doesn't mean that they should have fired the GM after that season they missed the playoffs and drafted Harden.

And I hope he's trolling, for his sake.

Assuming this isn't a troll thread why would you fire Demps? He's assembled an amazing group of talent. If anything Williams would be fired (although certainly won't happen this year). This is easily a playoff caliber roster within a year's time -- not the fault of the front office at this point.

Do Dell and Monty get raises and extensions if we win The Finals?

You're ok by my Mr. B, but you do have some bad opinions. Just saying.

If we have a top 3 pick which is where Harden was picked, yes we could draft a star next year.

If the draft is anywhere near as good as expected, it Is very likely you draft a star with a top 3 pick. Don't screw up and take Darko, though.
