Do we run the risk of giving up picks to get Thibs?

Apparently he is under a 2 year contract and some don't think he'll be fired contrary to the reports that everyone hates him in the organization. I will die if we give up another future first rounder.

Coaches have been traded recently, but I don't think it makes sense in this situation.

Both want to part ways. If I'm Thibs, I just show up to work as normal and force them to fire him.

No, if the Bulls want him gone and he wants to come here, he has no "trade value."

That's in a perfect world. Hoiberg isn't even close to a sure thing for Chicago if they let Thibs go. You can't make assumptions. If Chicago gauges our interest in thibs as extremely high then they may hold on to him and see if they can get picks. It's definitely not a zero percent chance that a trade happens with us giving up something for thibs.

If the Bulls don't fire him then yes the Pels will have to pay for his remaining contract and will have to give up something in return.

If Thibs costs a pick he shouldn't be our next coach. Too many other options.

I agree. I'm sort of interested in learning more about Lue and the dude fromAtlanta. I like Malone, too. We have options, imo.

The Magic are reportedly offering the Bulls a couple 2nd round picks, and are willing to pay Thibs 7-8 million a year. If true its time to move on...

What picks?

I don't think the Bulls are interested in our 2033 2nd rounder.

Let Orlando have him, not interested in him running the wheels off AD by the time he is 26-28.

Hoiberg may get along with a younger team better than a Thibs running them to death. Leaving his starting 5 in the game in a blow out and Rose gets hurt.....look at Noah, has there ever been a player decline as fast? He is garbage now...too many minutes.

In the end regardless of what any of us think, we must maintain faith that the management of this team will frick it up without our help.
I do think Monty could be a great asst coach,he will, recycle because that's what they do, he will have a new job soon.

With so many candidates likely wanting this job,I'm pretty confident they'll get a good one.

Hoiberg won't leave iowa state imho

From Iowa State's Athletic Director yesterday:

quote:

Athletic Director Jamie Pollard led a group of coaches into town for breakfast with fans, but Fred Hoiberg was not one of them. Hoiberg has been the center of several NBA rumors, including a possible opening in Chicago in a few weeks.

Pollard was straight forward and honest when addressing those rumors and realizes Hoiberg’s time in Ames might be winding down.

“From the day that he and I sat down and talked about him coaching Iowa State that was something that he expressed as a long term goal of his, to coach in the NBA, and what he has shown in the last five years is that he can really coach, and that really taking it to a whole other level… I’m sure it will happen and when it does it will be a sad day for all of us but we’re excited for him”

Yeah it definitely is his long term goal. But would he leave to take a NBA job so shortly after having a fairly major heart surgery? Supposedly this surgery corrected his problems, but it seems like taking on that level of stress so soon wouldn't be the best idea for him.

I'm betting he waits another year or two and then jumps in. But I can't think of better situations for him than ours and Chicagos. Those are good rosters that he can immediately jump in and run his system.
